Prayers to the driver and the occupant. So scary when accidents happen so quickly. I hope they’re okay. I go through there so many times, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever noticed the hydrant there. I just drive, making sure nobody pulls out in front of me and sadly my main goal is usually looking further towards the store hoping to get a good parking spot close to the front doors due to a disability with my leg. Just realizing that makes me as a driver realize I need to be more observant on things actually in parking lots and such.

Again, I hope and pray the driver and passenger are okay. You both have my thoughts and prayers going out for you. In the blink of an eye things can happen we never dreamed of 2-3 seconds before it does. Happy Memorial Day everyone, even with TS Alberto on the way. Stay safe and dry.

Because of where it happened, I believe what was said about a medical condition. It was almost at the stop sign and I’m sure he’s familiar with that parking lot and traffic flow. I didn’t realize I knew anyone until this morning as I didn’t recognize the car. So glad the injuries weren’t any more serious.

The accident was caused by a medical condition, the driver had no control of. I’m not going to go into personal details. But it was at no fault of the driver, what happened was truly an accident. No phone, speeding, or make up application was taking place. Both passengers are ok, sore but good.

Must have been the falling prices.

Stumpknocker has identified the problem and solution.

    GOOD JOB.

(I hope the injured are ok.)

    David for wisdom

Why are there so many single vehicle accidents? It would be nice if North Escambia printed reasons why: using cell, putting on makeup, just stupid…

Need to talk with the County Commissioner and get one of those ROUNDABOUTS put in the parking lot Just Like Pensacola Beach.

HA, HA what a Waste of Taxpayer Money….YES we will pay for that at the beach.

I’m with Dumbfounded. Speed definitely had to have something to do with it. Hope they’re okay though, whatever caused it

A fire hydrant is dry by design .
The valve is located several feet below the ground on the water main that feeds the hydrant when the valve stem is opened. It also provides freeze protection so it will flow water during freezing temps if needed. Its designed to shear off from impact and not break the main water main.

Hollywood movies show hydrants spewing water in the air are just for movies. It doesn’t usually happen.

Fire hydrants have a rod down to a valve in the ground. It is much like your handle on your tub, removing the handle will not cause water to come out

Fire Hydrants are made so they don’t bust the water line when they are hit. The valve is down at the pipe and the stem to turn it on breaks away when hit.

the hydrant probably has a shut off valve located somewhere up the line. it may not be pressurized unless it is needed

Did a deer run in front of the driver? Just sayin.

Oh my that’s such a bad stretch of parking lot there, lol. It needs a light and speed bumps with a traffic circle. Hope everyone is ok.!

    Where’s the water?

  18. waterman on May 25th, 2018 5:10 pm

I guess that hydrant just walked out in the road. Looks like he was traveling a little to fast for the parking lot!!

  19. anne 1of2 on May 25th, 2018 4:27 pm

Exactly how much speed did this one take?

  20. Dumbfounded on May 25th, 2018 4:19 pm

You have to be going pretty fast to overturn a car in a Walmart parking lot….particularly at this location….there are waaaayyyyyy to many cars in all directions!
    Thankfully no one died here…..

Where is the water from that hydrant?
