Atmore Walmart Cutting Hours
May 23, 2018
The Atmore Walmart Supercenter is cutting hours and will no longer be open 24 hours per day. Beginning Saturday, June 2, the store’s hours will be 6 a.m. until 1 a.m..
“These changes are being made because we’re continually looking at how we can best serve our customers. Based on a recent review of shopping patterns at our Atmore store, we are adjusting hours and reallocating resources to better serve our customers during peak shopping hours,” Casey Staheli, senior manager of national media relations for Walmart, told NorthEscambia.com.
The Atmore store was a smaller, prototype Supercenter. At 69,197 square feet, Atmore’s Walmart is about one-third the size of a larger Supercenter. By comparison, the Walmart SuperCenter on Highway 29 in Ensley comes in at 215,599 square feet, not counting the garden center and patio.

Even when they first opened the service was atrocious. I’m surprised there are still open at all.
The customer service and unfriendly Atmore Walmart is to be expected
Try Burger King , McDonald’s, even Casino
Friendly polite and good customer service
Does not exist
The worst Wal-Mart that I have ever been to. They do not stock their shelves, they are always out of items for weeks. However, the pharmacy is outstanding.
The employees there are very rude. And not professional.
I’ve not stepped inside a Wal-Mart in well over a decade. Never been to the one in Atmore and I live here.
This store is the right size for Atmore Al. If they made a bigger store then that would mean twice the money to keep it running and more product that wouldn’t sell at the rate other stores do. Atmore is a small town. To me even though this store is smaller than others, they have better customer service than any surrounding areas. There associates are more friendly and more helpful than anywhere I have been. I know the size of the aisles aren’t ideal but that is not the workers fault. Everyone in that building is doing their best to please the customers knowing that because of the size they will never really be satisfied. Closing for 5 hours a night is no big deal in my book. I have always shopped there and will continue to shop there.
Location, location, location!!!!!
The move is due to less competition. Since Winn Dixie isn’t a potential threat any longer, Walmart can cut back on the over kill to be better than the next. As time moves forward and more people shop there or more stores close, other customer perks will be cutback, too.
The store is too small anyway and runs out of products quite often. People like me get discouraged shopping there. I believe it can serve the community much better if it was larger and provide customers with what they need to keep them from going out to other locations would be in their best interest.
Being open 24 hours a day never made financial sense for Walmart. The buildings are so large that the company can only reduce the employee count so far if they want to discourage shoplifting. It is rare to have more customers per hour than employees from midnight to 5am.
Just not enough business after midnight to cover employe cost. Smart move.
I don’t even bother shopping at Atmore Walmart, it’s too small and crowded. I’d rather drive to the one in Bay Minette or Ensley.
