Century Replacing Sidewalk In Such Bad Condition ‘Children Were Wrecking Their Bikes’

The Town of Century is replacing a sidewalk on Hecker Road that was so bad “children were wrecking their bikes”, according to town officials.
The sidewalk is being replaced between Mayo and Archie streets.

It’s bad I’m 25 years old now and that side walk has been that way my entire life it about time Century started doing something positive for its community

Under Florida law, bicyclists are perfectly welcome on sidewalks. This is good because they are apt to get run over on the roads.

STATE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL
316.2065 Bicycle regulations.—
(9) A person propelling a vehicle by human power upon and along a sidewalk, or across a roadway upon and along a crosswalk, has all the rights and duties applicable to a pedestrian under the same circumstances.
(10) A person propelling a bicycle upon and along a sidewalk, or across a roadway upon and along a crosswalk, shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before overtaking and passing such pedestrian.
