Putting It On The Line – National Lineman Appreciation Day

April 9, 2018

Today is Lineman Appreciation Day for American’s electric cooperatives.

“Today, we honor our linemen for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice. Our guys are often called in to work power outages and they have to miss their son’s ballgame, their daughter’s piano recital or a get together with friends,” said Clay Campbell,  EREC general manager/CEO. “But they do it and they don’t complain. Because it’s who they are, it’s what they do. And for that we thank them.”

Thank you to all the linemen and other workers with EREC and all other power and utility companies. Linemen have a dangerous job and do them for our simple luxuries we often take for granted. Electricity!

These folks are special. What they do is dangerous. More dangerous than police and fire in regards to death rates. Yet, after a dirt truck driver forgot to put his bucket down and took out the power line, Gulf Power had it fixed within an hour. No lost food, and no one being injured. I have the greatest respect for lineman, who train and work hard to protect the public when clearly the vocation they have chose is dangerous. Thank you!

Want to thank all the EREC lineman and helpers that go out each day and work in the elements to keep the rest of us comfortable! And when the storms roll thru you won’t hesitate to get on out there with the Lightning still popping!
