FHP: Hit And Run Driver Arrested After Hitting Motorcycle

April 26, 2018

An alleged hit and run driver has been arrest in connection with an accident that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

The Florida Highway Patrol said James Taylor Tice was arrested  on warrants stemming from his involvement in a hit and run crash. The FHP said Tice was traveling north on Pine Forst Road when failed to stop for a red light at Nine Mile Road and collided with the rear of a motorcycle.

The FHP said Tice then fled the scene, but a second motorcycle rider was able to follow his vehicle and obtain Tice’s tag number.

“Tice was identified through an extensive investigation that resulted in a warrant being issued for his arrest based on his involvement regarding the hit and run crash,” FHP Lt. Eddie Elmore said.

Tice was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, failing to render aid and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

@Sandy I’m glad you survived that horrible incident. Me and my wife ride as well we also live very close to Pine Forest and ride through that intersection everyday this really hits home for us I’m sorry you had to endure such reckless uncaring human behavior.

To the victim of this hit and run, I’m glad that they caught the scumbag. Maybe justice will prevail. I was the victim of a hit and run when I was a teenager. I am 60 years old and the scum that hit me and left me for dead is still out there.

I too was on a motorcycle, hit 3 blocks from the house, my mom found me on the side of the road on her way to pick up my little sister from school. I was hospitalized with no memory of who ran that stop sign and T-boned my motorcycle. Can’t even describe the contempt I have for this kind of criminal with no conscience… His actions have hurt many, may he rot in prison.

Took them a month to get off of their butts to make an arrest, but if it was a cop that was injured it would’ve been a manhunt and he would’ve been arrested the same night

I was the victim in this incident. The light had been red for awhile. He came out of nowhere. He was drunk beyond belief. Witnesses had been behind him and stated that he was all over the road prior to the incident. The car he was driving was registered to his wife who of course knew he had a suspended. The FHP decided to go after him after a month because I relentlessly called them and maybe said some really ugly things about the negligence displayed in not bothering to do anything about it after my husband risk his life to chase them down and get a tag number. In there defense once I called the Captain, IMMEDIATE action was taken and he was apprehended. I am just thankful this is hopefully over and he will not get the chance to do it again for a very long time! We will see…

Funny how many people drive without licenses.

The charge that irritates me is driving while license suspended or revoked. Who was the owner of the vehicle? It seems that most crimes are committed by those who have a criminal history and the legal system continues to ensure their freedom. That is where the changes need to be not making laws to keep rights away from law abiding citizens.

Please, please – watch out for motorcycles. Unfortunate accident that didn’t have to happen. We watch for cars and trucks so please watch for us.
