Century Historical Board Approves Replacement Of Tornado Damaged Mobile Home
April 16, 2018
The Century Historic Preservation Board has approved the replacement of a tornado damaged 1964 mobile home located within the Alger Sullivan Historical District.
The current residence at 581 Church Street is actually two mobile homes in an “L” shape, and one was damaged by a February 2016 EF-.3 tornado that struck the town.
The replacement will be funded by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that was received by the Town of Century for tornado recovery. The new home will have two bedrooms and two bathrooms and will be handicap accessible.

To really? Did you apply for repair help with the County or Town after the tornado? They both had funding for assistance
It’s not the door that is off, it’s the front porch. The porch should be off centered between the door and the center window. According to the new home photo example, the porch should be lowered to the home’s skirting level allowing it to fit under the right roof line. This would give the home a L-shaped front look.
Sweet house to replace a mobile home. Center doors mess up the size of a room,
I agree with Really? But I’m glad that homes are being repair or replace.
It’s amazed me how many homes that were ready to fall down due to neglect before the tornado are being replaced! Meanwhile just outside the city limits we had damage, lost our insurance and two years later still making repairs out of our own pocket. Must be nice, sure hope y’all take care of your new houses!
Nice, but why would they not center that door on the porch?
