Wrong-Way Driver Arrested For DUI After Molino Highway 29 Crash

March 24, 2018

A Pensacola woman was charged with DUI  after a wrong-way crash on Highway 29 in Molino.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 61-year old Linda Brown was southbound in the outer northbound lane of Highway 29 past Highway 95A when she stuck a Ford F150 pickup driven by 47-year old Edward Carnley of Century. Carnley swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, but his pickup was struck in the side rear. The F150 then traveled off the roadway into the median at an angle, rotated and overturned once during the 11:43 p.m. wreck.

Carnley and his passenger, 16-year old Ashtyn Carnley, were wearing their set belts and were uninjured. Brown was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with minor injuries before being released and placed under arrest. The FHP also charged Brown with refusing to submit to a DUI test after a license suspension and driving the wrong way.

Brown was being held on a $1,500 bond.

Seems many people still confuse “accident” with “negligence”. This person was negligent in operating her vehicle, causing it to crash with another. “Accident” is a bad occurrence where no one is to blame. Negligence is a bad occurrence because someone did something wrong. I’m so glad there was not another death on Pensacola’s ‘Death Highway’!

If Linda Brown had stayed at home that night instead of going out and getting herself plastered this wouldn’t have happened. She is very lucky someone didn’t die because of her bad decision to drink and drive especially with a license suspension. I can guess why she had a license suspension one look at her picture can see that. Will cost her plenty of money in attorney fees and fines. She will not stop this behavior until she kills herself or goes to jail for killing someone else. She needs to wake up and start making better decisions and realize this could be her wake up call !!!!!!!

    @Tim
DUI Accidents can be avoided. BEFORE drinking, prepare how you will get to and from the bar. Call a cab for trip home BEFORE drinking. Because after you are impaired by alcohol you cannot make good judgement. No plan is a plan to fail. So come on make a plan ahead of partying, please.

    REGARDING:
” it doesn’t have anything to do with anyone’s abilities to drive it was a accident.”

A blood test would have proven that. Breathalyzer less certain. Refusal is lawful but leaves doubts.

David for driving on the right side of the road

    REGARDING:
“What is it with this area and folks not being able to drive?!?”

I am told alcohol makes it harder.

    David for self-driving cars

I wish people that are under the influence would reconsider driving. This could have ultimately ended not so well. This woman is fortunate that she didn’t kill an innocent person(s). Such a waste of life.

    @ Chris

I’m pretty sure drunk driving causes you to “not be able to drive” no matter what area you are in.

Does Brown go to jail this time for a few years? If her license is suspended, why such a low bond?

She’s lucky that man avoided her head on or they would still be digging pieces of her out. Why do people think it’s okay to drink and drive???? Please don’t do that people. Call someone or a cab.
