Voncile Dungan Kennedy
March 4, 2018
Voncile Dungan Kennedy was released from this life and began her Heavenly journey on March 1, 2018, after living with Alzheimer’s for over 13 years. She was born August 10, 1930, in Lucedale, MS, to Forrest Arnold and Bertha Seals Dungan, the fifth of eight children. Her young life was spent working hard on the farm her parents sharecropped. In late 1949, a young preacher from Pensacola, FL, held a revival at her church and on March 3, 1950, they were married. That union of almost 68 years was blessed with three children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings and their spouses, Allie Mae and Willard Goff, Walter and Lyla Dungan, Mattie Pearl and S. D. Lamb, Dean Tanner, Clyde Dungan, Dorothy and Bob Richards, and Jenette Dungan.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Hal Kennedy; children and their spouses, Patty and Darryl Malone, Gary and Susan Kennedy, Harold and Cindy Kennedy; five granddaughters, Charla Roemer, Mande Kennedy, Shannon Fernandez, Candi (Jeff) Harris, Kadee (Martin) Roddy; six great-grandchildren, Braydon Kennedy, Kaili Harris, Trey Roemer, Kingston Wong, Kieran Ajay, Amelia Zoe Fernandez; a special “daughter,” Pam Vaughn; and very special friends she loved so much, Rev. Paul and Shirley Welch; also her Kennedy family, Doris and Al Albritton, Jerry and Tonie Kennedy, Jimmie Kennedy, Larry and Lillian Kennedy, Inez and Robert Brown and their families.
The family would like to pay tribute to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Emerald Coast Hospice for their love and support the past six years…Cheryl Gleason, Sharon Reeves, Jason Adams, Carol Owens, Megan and Crystal, we love you!
A Homegoing Celebration was held at Saturday, March 3, 2018, at First Pentecostal Church.
A private burial will take place at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Voncile’s name to “Mother’s Memorial Foreign Bible Student Fund” through First Pentecostal Church. The service will be live-streamed at firstpent.org/live-streaming.
