Sunday, January 20th, Sunday night, on the Super Wolf Blood Moon, on West Kingsfield Road, on the second 90-degree turn coming from Beulah Road. There was an SUV that collided with the really huge pine tree on the curve about 12 Sunday night. One critically wounded and was life-flighted from Wendy Hill Baptist Church. I’m not sure why there isn’t a guardrail in that sharp curve or several dump truck loads of dirt dumped in front of the tree or several water barrels, that could be a cushion in case someone not familiar with the curve does not make that turn.

Amen, to the last commenter. We actually started a petition on our leg of the 90 degree curves in the road to have speed bumps put in! I don’t know what the status is. The road is terrible, there is one area that has been patched at least 15 times, last count. That was back when I was able to walk on West Kingsfield, without taking my life in my hands. We have lived out here for 32 years and we have never seen anything like this! It reminds me of the debacle at 9th, Langley, and Tippin! Anyway, to let everyone know, I wrote our esteemed district 5 county commissioner and begged him just to ride down the stretch from 97 to Beaulah Road, no answer. But I was put on a mailing list for information which has no bearing on the current situation, with the exception for a couple of town hall meetings that were held when I could not attend. So discouraging

Well this may not be an issue if they would open Muscogee road back up. I am forced to take Kingsfield to get my son to and from school every day, and it is a nightmare! Passing buses, garbage trucks, and speeding cars, I get ran off the road almost daily! It is extremely dangerous. If I’m not mistaken, Muscogee has been closed for almost 6 months, when it was initially supposed to be closed for THREE.

Folks that live on that end of kingsfield will tell you that since the navy federal folks discovered that short cut it’s become a regular race track. As said before, it’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed in that area.

That part of Kingsfield is obviously a problem yes, but w. roberts @ 29, w. roberts @ pine forest are no better. The whole area is going to get so much worse in the coming years simply due to growth. Look at the new school coming next to Ransom, and think about how your traffic issues are going to double with that school in operation. Escambia planners might get it together eventually, just don’t expect anything in the next ten years.

The root of it is people not paying attention and treating driving with the seriousness it deserves. This problem will never go away. Ever.

We have used that road for 30 years…it is more like a country lane..if one drives the way they should , for the conditions they find on that road , they won’t usually have a problem..If one is in a hurry , there are other roads in that area to drive..most people tend to drive too fast thru that area..leave earlier , and driving becomes much less stressful…

I have driven on County Road 97 past West Kingsfield Road every weekday at 7:15 am since 1998. For most of those years nobody ever turned westbound onto Kingsfield in the morning. Now, with Navy Federal traffic being a problem, and all the construction on Nine Mile Road, that part of West Kingsfield has become a major thoroughfare in the past year or so. Its not unusual to be driving South on 97 and see the 6 or 8 cars right in front of me turn there. Its a tiny, narrow, little rural road with trees growing inches from the side, and a series of sharp 90 degree turns. The only reason it’s getting used now is that it comes out on Beulah Road and can be used as a “back way” to Navy Federal. Poor road planning has caused absolute traffic nightmares like this in our area and this is one result.

I hope the driver will be okay.

They need speed bumps on that road! Especially by those homes. I have seen kids playing there so I know they live around there. Plus that road is so terrible, ir needs ro be repaved . It’s only time before someone drives into a home and kills somebody! WAKE UP ESCAMBIA COUNTY!
