All Clear After Reports Of Person With Gun At Tate High School
February 12, 2018
Tate High School was placed on lockdown this morning after reports of suspicious person possibly with a gun on campus. That lockdown was lifted about one hour later with nothing found.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person walking near the school that possibly had a gun. The report was unconfirmed and deputies searched the campus and the area around the school.
Deputies cleared buildings room by room, with nothing found.
No one was taken into custody, and there were no injuries.

when I attended Tate (76), we had deer rifles and shotguns, racked and on clear display in the rear windows of our pickup trucks. There was no problem and faculty and students alike, headed to the woods for to hunt after class.
No problem then, problem now? How does the DNA of the class of 20018, differ so greatly from the class of 1976? How did we change? I would love to see the comparison’s results.
Can anyone expound and enlighten?
Great job by the deputies!
Nice show of force… Thankfully it seems it may have been a false alarm… But looks like you guys are well prepared, equipped, and willing to handle one of these situations if there ever was an active shooter… Good to know… Nothing much more important then protecting our kids…!! Thanks local leo….
Dang that shows how much police will come it was a real shooting… They dont play about guns!
The Algebra test has now been postponed.
Thank you Escambia County Sheriff’s Dept!!!
