Sheriff David Morgan Has Got Your Goat…Just Bid On Him (The Goat) In Molino

February 6, 2018

Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan has got your goat..and you can bid on him (the goat, not the sheriff) Thursday morning in Molino.

The small brown male goat was found last month in the area of the 100 block of North Old Corry Field, and now he’s up for auction to the highest bidder with cash in hand. The auction will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Substation at 5844 North Highway 29 in Molino.

It’s not a car…it’s a living breathing animal that has a reputation for being difficult to keep. When the Sheriff’s office seize horses they go to a holding lot and they are free to people who can give them a qualified home. I feel this is really irresponsible and a terrible idea.

    >>>Shame on him for using this as a ploy to make money and not finding a proper home for it….

When livestock is seized or found and becomes property of the Sheriff’s Office, it’s now public property. They can’t just give it to someone…I believe the law specifies that it be sold by the Sheriff at public auction. It’s not some money making thing exclusive to the ECSO.

This is a bit alarming. I have a small farm and last summer I took in two goats from people who couldn’t provide care for them. Yesterday I took in two more from people who don’t understand what all is involved with goats. If you are not set up for them, they are HUGE pain in the butts. They are incredible escape artists and they do easily get sick from stress. Goats are not pets, they are not lawnmowers, they are not cute cuddly little puppies….they are FARM ANIMALS. Shame on him for using this as a ploy to make money and not finding a proper home for it….

I would love to have both Sheriff Morgan and this adorable goat, but I have no place to keep either one of them because I live in Santa Rosa County. Darn the luck!! I hope who ever gets the high bid treats “Billy” like the little royal prince he is!!

I’ve been wanting a quiet lawn mower and there he is.
