Careless drivers are not just on Highway 97. I use this highway all the time and I’ve seen silly people more than once on Hwy. 29 going North turn in front on a car going South to get into Tom Thumb. Not only that, there are cars turning from Hwy. 29 on to Hwy 97, then stopping to turn into Tom Thumb. This puts folks that are turning onto 97 at risk because cars going south on Hwy. 29 sometimes has to stop so that they don’t hit those turning. IT IS A VERY B A D INTERSECTION! Something really needs to be done to FIX the problem. Of course those county commissioners don’t live out here in Molino so it doesn’t concern them. That’s my thoughts! I think that if our commission lived out here, especially on or off the Atmore Highway, he would be wanting to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

Light will work if everybody would slow down to speed limit but 55 is still too fast

    @Grandma

I was on 97, making a right onto 29 south. I had already started making my turn, when the car from northbound 29 shot right across in front of me going into that store.

First I pray for everyone involved. Second I like to say this light has not solved any issues with car accidents. They need to put cameras up to address the root of the problem. Thirdly if DOT thinks putting a light up at Molino Road and 29 is going to help, it is not. This will be the same weekly issue there too. WE as a community need to speak up. I have nearly got into 3 wrecks at 29 & Molino Road because NO ONE uses the intersection correctly. I have been cussed and flipped off for the correct usage. William can you please add an option for picture uploads so we can share the CORRECT way to use an intersection!! ( just kidding, no telling what would be shared!! but would be nice!)

@CW If you were going south on 29 and trying to turn right on red, a northbound vehicle turning left DOES have the right a way. Remember you had a red light and must yield until clear to turn right on red. Or did I not understand what you said.

People turning left into the Tom Thumb are still a big problem. A few days ago I was making a right on red from 97 and another car shot right across in front of me, trying to get to that gas station.

The only way they will ever fix that intersection is to move 97 enough so that it comes into 29 at a 90 degree angle. They need to do that BEFORE another store is built there.

Perhaps a traffic circle will help.

First, pray for everyone that was in this accident.
2nd goes out to all the people who want to break the law.
These accidents can be avoidable. Slow down, it will save lifes. Stop on Red and I mean Stop, not a roll and go. Yield means slow down for the other vehicle who has the right of way. Let people turn in on 97 into the Tom Thumb, do not block the turn in, have some courtesy. Double lines mean do not pass, there is a reason they are there. Don’t use your cell phone while driving, it is one of the worst distractions while driving.
Don’t think that you’re entitled to break the law. If everybody felt entitled then everybody will do it, causing more accidents. Please life is more important than you breaking the law, innocent people are the ones who suffer.

I thought the red light was going to solve all of our wrecks at that intersection

They need a traffic signal at that intersection……….oh wait nevermind.

  12. Uncle M on February 3rd, 2018 8:17 am

Hope everyone is okay. They should put a red light there to help with all these accidents. Oh wait there is.

  13. James Ragsdale on February 3rd, 2018 8:05 am

Let’s put up another traffic light for all the good they do!

  14. James on February 3rd, 2018 7:50 am

I thought that the light was suppose to keep people from hitting each other at the intersection. It seams like there has been more accidents then when there wasn’t a light there. I guess the light hasn’t stopped the stupid people that drive on these roads. What they need to do is put a camera up so they have a way to see what is really happening at this light. I’m pretty sure that there are a lot of people running the light cousing the accidents. Maybe if they started getting tickets in the mail they might start watching closer to the lights and maybe save some lives. I hope these people are ok and pray that people start slowing down and watching the road more then their phones.

Careless drivers again on Highway 97. This is a weekly occurrence and is a road neglected by law enforcement.
