Four-Year Old Critical After Being Ejected From Vehicle

February 2, 2018

A four-year is in critical condition after being thrown from a vehicle during a three vehicle crash Thursday moring.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 69-year-old Sara Hyduk was heading northbound on Davis Highway just after 8:45 a.m. Two other vehicles, driven by Antonio Cuffy and Sabrina Condino, were stopped at a red light on Davis Highway near Johnson Avenue.

The FHP said Hyduk may have had a medical emergency and lost consciousness, causing her to lose control of the vehicle and collide with the vehicles driven by Cuffy and Condino. An unrestrained four-year old boy in Cuffy’s Hyundai Santa Fe was ejected from the vehicle and thrown under the Buick Park Avenue driven by Hyduk.

Cuffy and Condino were not injured.

Any charges in the crash are pending the outcome of a Florida Highway Patrol investigation.

    REGARDING:
” it is a very good possibility that that baby unbuckled himself or worked hisself out of the straps.”

    Good point.

    David for reasonable people

Hyduk should be charged for the damage to the vehicle or vehicles whether it was due to a medical emergency or not. However Cuffy should be charged with child endangerment for not having the child secured safely in the vehicle, it is not the fault of any others for not securing your child properly. Apologies for any harshness but it’s my truthful opinion and I pray he will get better.

I know a lot of people want to judge but it is a very good possibility that that baby unbuckled himself or worked hisself out of the straps. My 2 yr old gets his arms out of the straps all the time. Worries me sick that something might happen, my baby could get seriously hurt or killed & then someone will judge me. It could have been that the dad looked back & noticed he wasn’t buckled & the accident happened before he could do anything.

It looks like the only one who misread the article was me. In any case, the driver of the vehicle that had the child in it deserves to be punished and lose custody of the child.

Seems like a lot of people make comments before they read an article.

See, this is why we have laws… Seatbelts and car seats are there for a reason. Not just there for the fun of fighting with your child to sit correctly. The driver of the car that the kid was ejected from should be charged. Because of her ignorance to not follow the law, that child was ejected, and CRITICALLY injured. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes. So sad, prayers for the little boy. I hope he recovers.

    @Patriot
RE READ the article. The child was NOT in Hyduks vehicle. Hyduk was the vehicle that caused the accident due to a medical emergency beyond her control. The child was in CUFFY’S vehicle unrestrained. Please edit your comment.

@Patriot: The child was in Cuffy’s car, not Hyduk. Also, Hyduk may have had a medical emergency which caused the accident. Let’s find out more before throwing her in jail!

If Sara Hyduk survives, I hope she goes to jail, and I hope she loses custody of that child if she has it. If you refuse to do something so basic as to buckle up a child in your care, you are either an evil person, or a profoundly ignorant one.

You can not drive around with your child not in a carseat or seatbelt. This could have been prevented. I hope this little boy recovers quickly!!
