Video Catches Shootout At Escambia County Intersection

January 23, 2018

One man has been arrested and deputies are seeking a second suspect after two people opened fire at a busy intersection on Monday.

Dash cam video from a nearby vehicle shows a silver Lexus pull up to the intersection of W Street and Fairfield Drive about noon.  A man, later identified as 27-year old Jonathan James Harris is seen leaning out the open driver’s window of a silver Lexus. He begins firing across a traffic lane at a gold Toyota driven by 31-year old Jeremy Olds.

The man identified as Olds jumps out of the Toyota and returns fire..

Olds has been located and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Deputies are still searching for Harris.

Authorities have estimated that 10-12 rounds were fired, including rounds that struck a nearby vehicle with two children inside.

Deputies said the shooting was likely drug related.

Anyone with information on Harris or the shooting is asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

    Wild Wild Westside.

The guy in the red truck is my brother. He was shaken up a little bit but he was okay as well as his truck. The difference between thugs with guns and concealed carry folks is that the concealed carry folks usually target practice at gun ranges and can hit what they are shooting. These “thugs with guns” are extremely dangerous. Just letting bullets fly wildly. They ALL need to be charged with reckless endangerment. Pure stupidity!

How you change this is by not keeping the same LIBERAL JUDGES AND LAWMAKERS IN TALLAHASSEE,, All crimes are given a point system, and based upon that determines if the person receives jail time or prison, there is no such thing in Florida anymore as ‘DUE THE CRIME DUE THE TIME” ITS MORE NOW OF ” I CAN DO A CRIME WITH NO TIME” based upon this point system YOU PEOPLE KEEP IN OFFICE

And some people wonder why I carry an AK. ;)

Unless it’s been repealed the law says 10 years mandatory for possession of a gun during the commission of a crime 20 years for using it and life for shooting someone.

@All the “Law enforcement should haves” What do you think a cop being at this intersection would have done??? Would it have made these dirtbags nay scumbags not shoot? Would it have made all the bullets magically disappear? You guys have police enforcement completely wrong. We have police because we have crime. Just because you have police does not mean crime stops if that were the case we would only need one officer for the entire country. Police cant be everywhere at once. Bottom line unless you want to give up the freedoms you hold dearly and unless you want to pay outrageous amounts of taxes the Police cant hold your little hand every time you walk across the street. Life has risk people are going to do bad things it happens blaming the police or police coverage does not, will not, can not stop that.

@Well who said “It’s so nice that everyone hates to see the poor little innocent misunderstood pieces of junk not be punished harshly.” No one in this comments section said anything about them not being punished if you are talking about generally please do tell who doesn’t want to see public shooters punished? Also don’t just list names give examples of what they said that made you think this. This is how “fake news” gets started. Someone like you voices how they “FEEL” and MAKE UP FACTS to support their FEELINGS. If you cant back up what you say with real evidence then don’t spread FAKE NEWS.

@LIna We are glad you don’t live here anymore as well. You are clearly someone who would use this awful incident were people could have been seriously injured or killed to say “i’m better then you” well you’re not and if I wrote here what you actually are the moderator would not publish my comments.

Why were these thugs out of jail? The guy arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon? Come on man, why not attempted murder, firing at an occupied auto, wreckless endangerment. I would even charge him with running a red light. In other words, they should be charged with every crime they committed and given maximum sentences to run consecutive.

  9. Lindsay on January 24th, 2018 9:44 am

    What intersection???

  10. charles on January 24th, 2018 9:27 am

Why is the video date 01/01/2014?

  11. Linda Hall on January 24th, 2018 9:03 am

Broad daylight and a busy intersection. My question is who had the dash-cam? Glad no innocent people were injured. I wonder if I look, how many times these folks have been incarcerated? That is the problem. In and out , in and out. And they continue down the same road. Need to go to the 3 strike rule and jails and prison need to go back to being jails and prisons. No cable tv, no internet access, etc.

Excuse me, but did I wake up in Chicago?

  13. k on January 24th, 2018 7:10 am

At time :27 you can see the muzzle recoil of a 2nd shooter who is reaching from the passenger side of the car on the right.

it’s only for 1 shot or maybe two – and then the driver takes off.

  14. Jordan on January 24th, 2018 6:55 am

I agree with being able to defend yourself, however the man that gets out of the car did not start shooting until AFTER the other car starting driving away, He had no need to shoot if he was just defending himself. These people know each other and it was personal. Also, he made an Illegal right hand turn.

  15. tg on January 24th, 2018 6:51 am

Wonder where all these stray bullets go?

  16. Buck on January 24th, 2018 6:27 am

Someone needs to brush up on their understanding of “stand your ground” …
a convicted felon w/deadly weapon lost that right…

A stand-your-ground law (sometimes called “line in the sand” or “no duty to retreat” law) is a justification in a criminal case, whereby defendants can “stand their ground” and use force without retreating, in order to protect and defend themselves or others against threats or perceived threats.
Justification using stand-your-ground laws may be limited when “[the defendant] was engaged in illegal activities and not entitled to benefit from provisions of the ’stand your ground’ law”. This may be the case even if the illegal conduct the defendant was engaged in had nothing to do with the threat which instigated his use of deadly force (e.g., being robbed and beaten) was not protected due to the fact that an illegally obtained weapon was used in self defense.).

Gangsters, I wish somebody would have shot both of them.

  18. Steven Zanalla on January 24th, 2018 3:20 am

MiMi: You’re so incorrect! There is coverage for the entire county 24/7, but not at the same staffing levels due to the current shortages. They are currently taking applications so go apply.

  19. mike on January 24th, 2018 12:17 am

olds was defending himself, stand your ground, clearly.

  20. John on January 23rd, 2018 11:04 pm

Time to modernize local law enforcement.

  21. MiMi on January 23rd, 2018 10:40 pm

The ECSO isn’t understaffed, because the Sheriff pulled all the officers from the North End, the school resource officers from the North End, the funeral escorts. They only go as far North as Jimmy’s Diner.

I’m happy everyone is safe but im especially happy my sister is okay. She was in the car that’s in front of the white van. This is alll bullcrap. And I hope the police didn’t miss that second gun that was firing out of 1 car.

  23. C on January 23rd, 2018 9:02 pm

I agree with one of the comments above. There were 2 shooters in that silver car. 2 guns being fired. You can see the gun out the window.

  24. EMD on January 23rd, 2018 8:00 pm

    MORONS ! ! !

  25. Lina on January 23rd, 2018 7:36 pm

So glad I had left Pensacola, I would have gotten killed in that country city. Thank god I went to Oregon.

  26. JE on January 23rd, 2018 7:30 pm

Olds may not be charged with anything more than possession of firearm by felon. It gets complicated inFlorida when you are defending yourself, even if you are unlawfully possessing a firearm.

For those that think we need more gun laws, watch how fast he gets out of jail. It’s a revolving door until they are incarcerated beyond their 50’s or terminated by someone else.

  27. Well on January 23rd, 2018 7:06 pm

That’s right Steven couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn but they hit a vehicle with children inside of it and put everyone else there at risk of being killed.
It’s so nice that everyone hates to see the poor little innocent misunderstood pieces of junk not be punished harshly.
They should be hung right there at the intersection and left as inspiration for those that don’t think anything would be done to them.
The justice system has become quite a joke.
Yeah I’m having a hard time explaining how I really feel

  28. freda on January 23rd, 2018 6:48 pm

Nooo the person in the silver car needs attempted murder charges. In the one in the gold car it just as wrong. I hope whoever was in the truck gets help. All the innocent people I feel so sorry for them. These people need to be removed from society asap.

  29. Sam on January 23rd, 2018 6:29 pm

In broad daylight with people all around them. Ya think they cared? And we’re going to catch them and give them fair trials, put em in jail, feed em, and waste taxpayer money on them till they’re released to do it all over again.

  30. J.Larry Seale on January 23rd, 2018 6:21 pm

Well folks better get use to this……….
With the ECSO under staff, it going to
be just like the big city have seen for years……………..

    JLSeale

  31. T on January 23rd, 2018 6:17 pm

Got to be more charges then that right?

  32. Stephen on January 23rd, 2018 6:02 pm

They couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn!!!

  33. CW on January 23rd, 2018 5:58 pm

Is it just me or was there TWO guns being fired from the Lexus? Nonetheless, they have terrible aim, that gun was bouncing all over the place.

  34. Private eye on January 23rd, 2018 5:52 pm

If you watch closely, a passenger in the silver car also reaches over and fires a weapon from the drivers side. Crazy crap. Glad no innocent bystanders hurt.
