Bill Would Require ‘In God We Trust’ To Be Displayed At Schools

January 24, 2018

With supporters saying the motto is a “foundation” of the state and country, a House panel Tuesday approved a bill that would require the message “In God We Trust” to be displayed at all public schools.

“In God We Trust” is included in state law as Florida’s official motto.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kimberly Daniels, D-Jacksonville, and Rep. Mel Ponder, R-Destin, would require school boards to adopt rules ensuring that the motto would be displayed in a “conspicuous place” in each school.

“There’s a saying that if the foundation is destroyed, what can we do?” Daniels said before the House PreK-12 Innovation Subcommittee approved the bill. Sen. Keith Perry, R-Gainesville, has filed an identical bill, but it has not been heard in Senate committees.

That would be great. I personally wish that more people were Godly and respected such. Put prayer back in schools and allow corporal punishment. The whole world is going to hell in a handbasket. A little “God” would not hurt , only help. As it will take the Lord to fix some folks!!

Doesn’t he have anything better to do.

I know there should be a separation of church and state but it sure seems like things were much better back when I was a kid in the 70’s and we had God in our lives. An example is back then we played with Tonka trucks and today the kids are eating Tide Pods. Just saying!

Whose god? And who is “we”? This is a waste of money and another attempt by a few people to further divide our citizens into “us” vs. “them.” Letters plastered on a building are just that. If you trust in God, then just act that way. And for fellow Christians, Matthew 6:5 pretty much sums it up.

In God we trust only goes so far. That’s the reason we stop at red lights.

@Vince where in science does it explain conscience? And how can maturity and experience in the present (because we are all living in the present) explain the past and future? And yes I’m a Christian and I know putting signs “In God We Trust” on public schools will not improve them, neither will it put God back in public schools or carry favor with God.

    429SCJ,

If someone doesn’t believe in God, they probably don’t believe in Satan, either.

Seperation of church and state. State money cant be used to promote or pay for anything to do with religion at public schools. Whomever is trying to pass this is wasting tax payer money as this would never survive a court. Why not instead vote to increase the school budget and teacher wages ?

If we remember that this country is was founded on many principles. Separation of church and state is one of them. If your children don’t know about God at home or church maybe you should enroll them in one of our many faith based schools.Ask these big money churches to build schools next to the mega worship centers. Reps should stop pandering for religious votes and represent everyone.

As it should be, this is the faith our country was founded on.

(1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

To all you fellow Christians our there, is it more important to you that souls get saved, or statutes and monuments that mean nothing to God get built. He is going to destroy them one day anyways!!!

In god some of us trust. The rest of us trust in our growing judgment of the world based on experience, maturity, the inputs of science and our freedom of conscience guaranteed by our Constitution. This motto was created to promote theistic religion, but many Americans adhere to non-theist religions like Buddhism, and a growing segment, nearly thirty percent, are non-believers with no religious affiliation. As John pointed out, this motto is unjust.

I wondered what was going to be the new wedge issue to emotionally manipulate Evangelical Voter in Florida for 2018? Now I know.

It is on our money and I often wonder if the Lord shakes his head when he sees what we spend our money on. It’s on my license plate and I know I am blessed to have it there.

It is good to say “In God We Trust”.

Let those who trust Satan go where they end up.

Yep, that’ll solve all the issues with our public education system.

Writing those words on our heart, is where it will truly make a difference, through the Son of God Jesus Christ. We have in God we trust written on our money but yet we are 20 billion dollars in debt. All of these empty self righteous works are filthy rags to God.

What will come next? Telling people what religion they have to practice?
