December 27, 2017
A 25-year old Molino man has been arrested for allegedly striking his wife and pushing his wife’s grandmother out of a doorway and into her walker during a heated argument.
Adrian Edmund Jones, 25, was charged with a felony count of battery on a person 65 years or age or older and battery.
The wife told deputies that she was playfully wrestling in bedroom with Jones when he began to punching her with a closed fist repeatedly in her ribs and struck her in the eye as the wrestling escalated violently. The wife exited the bedroom and stood behind her grandmother, according to an arrest report.
As Jones attempted to exit the bedroom, the grandmother reportedly stood in the doorway before being pushed out of the way.
The 74-year old woman then retreated to her kitchen and grabbed a large butcher knife to defend herself. After a brief standoff between the elderly woman and Jones, he reportedly fled the residence on Sunshine Hill Road. The grandmother refused medical treatment at the scene.
Jones was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.

I do not know all the facts. However, I do know that over charging defendants has become an epidemic. Playful wrestling got carried away, and a man is charged with a felony. The grandmother intervened and blocked the defendant from leaving the room. I totally understand a misdemeanor charge against the man where he escalated the playful wrestling by striking his wife with a clenched fist at or about the head, but when the man left the room he moved grandma and her walker out of the way. To charge him with a felony, where there is no other evidence of his striking the grandma is really a stretch. He should be charged with a misdemeanor, and the taxpayers should not foot the bill for him sitting in jail at 50k a year because somebody decided to turn this into a felony. He should be punished, but why do the folks who authorize these higher charges continue to punish taxpayers. Common sense has left the barn.
Regardless of what happened my grandmother did what she had to do to protect herself! If you really knew my family member( wife ) she isn’t the best of telling the truth! To the comment about my grandmother (bewildered) be honest to yourself did you think before you actually wrote that comment??
Wow what a brave man jumping on an older woman. Wish they would have you left you in jail and let some “real” men know what you did. Regardless how it started, you are a puny, scumbag
REGARDING:
“Really? What a joke! $5,000. bond. Meaning he only pays $500. ”
Regardless, that’s $500 he’ll never see again even if he is acquitted.
David for saving money by avoiding criminality
Fred, I like your thinking!
Really? What a joke! $5,000. bond. Meaning he only pays $500. to get out. Not really a man that will beat up on women and mistreat the elderly. The system is a freaking joke!
A 74 year old woman on a walker defending herself against a 25 year old strong male with a butcher knife. Wow! And it all started with the loving couple playfully wrestling? How will they deal with a serious conflict should it arise?
