The Florida Highway Patrol said 32-year old Michael Saxton of Pensacola was driving a 2001 Ford F150 westbound on Olive Road about 5:10 p.m. when he made a left turn onto Deborah Drive into the direct path of a Jonway Scooter moped. People wake up if you can’t see why would you pull out the sun is no excuse.
I doubt sun was a factor at 5;10 pm
Tragic for everyone involved. Sometimes the sun does actually blind a driver inspite of wearing sunglasses. Happened to me just yesterday going west by the bay on Lillian hwy. Wonder if there is some kind of clip on window screen available to temporarily darken your windshield for a few minutes?
I had an accident on E Olive Rd at the exact same time of the day, this time of year and the first thing the other driver said was he was so sorry, he never saw my truck. That sun blinds drivers. I feel so sorry for all involved.
So sorry to hear this for the 32-year old. Those scooter things are so hard to see and at dusk. I’m praying for all families and especially you Mr. Saxton, be strong and have faith. My brother killed a man who jumped out in front of him(committing suicide) and my brother who didn’t have faith in God above is in a sad state still.
God’s love to all.
