Two Facing Multiple Charges After Davisville Traffic Stop

November 30, 2017

Two North Escambia residents are facing multiple charges after numerous drugs, items of drug paraphernalia, weapons and ammunition were found in a vehicle at a Davisville convenience store.

Chad Andrew Giddins, age 41 of McDavid, remained in the Escambia County Jail Thursday morning with bond set at $41,000, while  42-year old Tonya Ladora Foster of Cantonment was jailed with bond set at $20,000.

An Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the area of West Highway 4 and Sandy Hollow Road near Davisville reported recognizing Giddins as the driver of a pickup truck. Knowing that Giddin had an outstanding warrant, the deputy turned  around and caught up with the pickup on Highway 97 at a gas station at the intersection of Highway 97 and Nokomis Road.

The deputy advised Giddins that he was under arrest and grabbed him by the large camouflage jacket he was wearing. Giddins refused to place his hands behind his back, according to an arrest report, even when the deputy placed his taser on his back. The taser was never deployed. With no backup in the immediate area, the deputy requested assistance in handcuffing Giddins from  a local farmer that was at the store.  The deputy located a cigarette box containing two plastic bags of marijuana in Giddins’ pocket.

Another deputy arrived on scene at took a female passenger in the pickup into custody. According to the arrest report,  Foster was observed pushing a black bag under the pickup. The bag reportedly contained two bags containing marijuana and eight small bags of methamphetamine.

Inside the truck, deputies found multiple pills with no marking that will be submitted to the FDLE crime lab for analysis, a loaded .17 caliber rifles and scope with a chambered round ready to fire, a sunglasses case with a a crack pipe, over 130 rounds of .22 caliber ammo, two 20 gauge shotgun shells, four meth pipes, 30 rounds of .17 caliber ammunition, at least two small bags of crystal methamphetamine, digital scales, syringes, and other drug paraphernalia.

Giddins was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and knowingly driving with a suspended license.

Foster was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine  with intent to distribute, possession of a control substance , possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Giddins was also charged with fleeing and eluding pole with lights or siren activated, attaching a tag not assigned to the vehicle and driving with a suspended license for an earlier incident on November 2 in Walnut Hill.  A deputy spotted Giddins in the Ernest Ward Middle school zone on Highway 97.  The deputy followed his as he turned into a residence in the 700 block of North Highway 99. The deputy activated his lights and siren, but Giddins accelerated away,, around the residence and back onto North Highway 99, eluding the deputy.

We will gladly watch our mouths while you watch over your shoulder. Not bad people —- Ha Ha if that’s what you want to think. No body is putting these people down. It is what it is. So all of you that find this couple good people, take them in your home and make sure they get to hunt and fish. Maybe the prison system will keep these two for a very long time.

Watch your mouths. That’s somebody’s family. I’m sure if y’all revealed yourself we could talk about some of yours too. Chad’s not a bad person and if she was hanging with him she’s just as much at fault as he is.

Everyone wants to put these people down and judge them. I am not condoning drugs or resisting the officer, I am going to defend these people though. Tonya is my cousin and Chad is a good friend of mine. Both of these people are very good people. They both would give someone everything they had, if it would help someone out. Instead of judging these people and calling them names, how about praying for them. How about understanding life is hard and everyone has different coping techniques. Just because you handle something one way, doesn’t mean someone else will. Judging people and putting people down is what is wrong with this world anyway. Everyone is so consumed with their selves that no one wants to reach out to anyone else. Drug addicts are people, just like people who sit at home and “pretend” they are without their own faults. Jesus loves the drug addicts just as much as he loves the people who have other addictions and the people who are judgemental and the people who sit in church every Sunday. I pray that people would own their eyes and see that nothing that was said here helps anyone with anything. It adds to the hate that this world is full of.

And just for the record, having a gun doesn’t make you violent. His gun was for hunting.

Too bad this couple did not learn after going down in the blister pack 1 bust. I feel no sorrow for wither of them and there is not a fish in waters up there that need a shotgun or rifle too catch.. I hope this time they throw the book at them

@sean carrigan, dude, if Tonya wants to come out in top she needs to quit running around with a multi-time loser meth head. She has a choice of friends I’m pretty sure, this wasn’t a wise one! There’s all kinds of places to fish and lots of people to go with that aren’t trouble. Her choice, her problem, now she’ll pay for it. No bull…….

    @grand locust
How can you call this guy non violent when he was caught with loaded firearms. I’m all for getting people help that need it or want it but when your riding around with Meth and a loaded weapon the violence is only around the corner

  8. Grand Locust on November 30th, 2017 5:56 pm

Thank you Mr. Greenjeans for helping Leo…..the arrested man was lucky that Captain Kangeroo did not get out of Mr. Greenjean’s truck because he would have messed the man up. More non violent self destructive dopes and mopes filling up the jails and prisons at 50k a year, and we have not figured out where the real problem is?.

This was PROactive police work as opposed to REactive police work. Always a threat to the “low profile” sneaky criminals.

Lol trying to go fishing not for flatheads but for methheads. All you need is a meth pipe and several plastic bags of meth for bait

  11. Sean carrigan on November 30th, 2017 1:25 pm

Man y’all with the bull. People need to just mind their own business and keep moving along. Hope tonya comes out on top for this one. All she was trying to do was go fishing. #stayinyourownlane!

So he resisted arrest but wasn’t tased? Why not? Why get a civilian involved? It could have escalated and the farmer could have gotten hurt. That’s too much of a gamble in my opinion.

Could a LEO answer these questions?

  16. 429SCJ on November 30th, 2017 9:44 am

It is bad when you are so notorious, that a passing LE Officer can recognize you at a cursory glance from a passing vehicle.

If he is not going to change his lifestyle, well then he should at least change his appearance and range, relocate to another area; preferably outside Escambia County.

    Excellent work ECSO and farmer.

Wow! Excellent police work! And, the local farmer deserves a BIG “thank you” for jumping in to assist. Lord knows, this could have ended much differently. I loath drug dealers/users.

dang, in their 40’s and still playing the stupid game. At what point do you grow up and realize what you do has consequences? In this case, once a loser, always a loser. Maybe this time they’ll stay gone for a LOOOOONG time.
