November 17, 2017

Three people have been arrested in connection with the August shooting death of Robert Kennedy of Atmore, according to Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks.

Darrell Octavius Brown, age 29 of Atmore, and Deon Booth, age 20 of Mobile have both been charged with capital murder, attempted murder, robbery first degree and burglary first degree. Brown is being held in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton, while Booth is being held in the Mobile Metro Jail.

A juvenile, whose name is being withheld, is being held in a juvenile detention facility.

About 3:15 a.m. on August 7, the Atmore Police Department responded to a shooting call at 170 Broad Street where they found damage to the front door and two people lying in bed with gunshot wounds.  The homeowner, 56-year old Robert Kennedy, was airlifted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile where he later died from his injuries. The female victim, 45-year old Joi McClammy of Flomaton, was transported to Atmore Community Hospital and later transferred to the USA Medical Center due to the seriousness of her injuries, Brooks said.

These 3 thugs are just sorry ignorant people. DEATH penalty is the only sentence appropriate.

“Damage to the front door” – how could this NOT be premeditated? If convicted – this case screams for the death penalty. How can you bust into somebody’s home – KILL them and get a slap on the wrist????

Prosecutors should seek the death penalty for both of these animals. Atmore is a sad place to raise children! This is the second murder charge for Brown this year alone.
