Scott Brings $180 Million Tax Cut Message To Escambia County

November 9, 2017

Florida Governor Rick Scott brought his tax cut message to Escambia County Wednesday.

Scott visited Global Business Solutions, Inc., an information technology company, in Pensacola to highlight his proposal for $180 million in tax cuts for Florida families as part of his 2018-2019 recommended budget. The Governor’s proposal includes sales tax holidays to help families prepare for the school year and hurricane season, and reductions to many of the fees on driver’s licenses.

Scott also announced that he will propose an amendment to Florida’s Constitution to make it harder for politicians to raise taxes by requiring a supermajority vote by future Florida legislatures to raise any taxes or fees

This Democratic talking point of “how will we pay for it” is absurd. It is taxes taken from us, the people. We paid for it. Government can live within their budget Just like us tax payers live within our means.

Tax cuts do not need to be funded. They are a savings to the tax payer. To comply with the cuts, the government should be reduced in size. Ending wasteful spending like WIC, student grants, etc. comes to mind. Stop buying votes – they’ll figure something out.

Wish they’d give a break on property taxes.

I will have to do some research but I did not see in this article how these tax cuts will be funded, someone or something will have to pick up the tab. thats how money works. Hopefully our super smart governor has his plan thought out. Sure are a lot of bridges and road projects doing without funding in our area.
