Tree Crashes Through Cantonment Home
October 8, 2017
A Cantonment woman escaped injury when a large tree fell into her home early Sunday morning — one of the very few damage reports received from Hurricane Nate in the North Escambia area.
The woman said the tree came crashing down just a short distance from where she was sleeping; she had to push branches out of her way to escape.
The home is located on Bob White Lane off East Kingsfield.

Aside from power lines, a few downed trees and scattered items such lawn furniture and trash cans, no other significant damage has been reported in North Escambia.

Planting shrubbery around a large tree has nothing to do with the tree rotting and falling over. If that were the case there would be trees all over town falling over.
Thank God she is okay! What a wake up call!
Thanks for sharing info about growing plants at base of tree. I never knew that.
What a miracle for this lady! Many trees appear to be stressing this year. I guess we think they will be back next year but apparently not.
Look at the base of the tree. DON’T plant anything at the base of a tree. Looks pretty but it will rot in time and first good wind comes along, this is what happens.
That tree had serious root rot, notice how you don’t see any roots. Usually you’ll see mushrooms before it ever gets to that point.
Thank you for the kind comments. Yes the resident is fine. Thanks to the first responders that came to check on her, Esc Fire Dept and Esc EMS.
Tank god she is ok will be praying for her
Man that’s a terrible way to be woke up! Glad all is ok. House can be repaired.
