Obviously, some of these people have no idea how the mail actually gets to their local post office to actually be delivered. Most of it FLIES ON COMMERCIAL PASSENGER PLANES! no planes flying, no mail moves. I wonder how many of you would actually go out and drive or walk in the conditions created by hurricane Irma? And seriously folks, if your mail was delivered, who knows if it would still be there after the wind and rain subsided? I would think it would be better to wait a few days and get my mail and packages intact. Take it from a mail carrier, we deliver in many extreme conditions, but some are just NOT possible.

I have never received a single piece of mail that was important enough to justify having a postal employee risking their safety driving in the weather that Florida has experienced. Give them a break! I am certain that much of the mail that would be delivered here is weather delayed.

The old post office motto went out the window years ago. Let the weather get the least bit turbulent and they shut down.

9/11, they should be closed today.

Ah, the blessings of not having some sort of “trash” mail delivered. Great joy!

While we may have just a little light rain, I believe the reason for the service suspension is because our local Escambia and Santa Rosa mail is processed in Jacksonville and would be transported back across through Tallahassee and the direct storm path. The information from the USPS did not say this, so we can’t put it directly in the story.

What??? What happened to “neither rain nor sleet nor snow shall keep us from our appointed rounds…..”???

It’s the FIRST one! Just a little rain….

?Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” the motto of the USPS has fallen. Enjoy you day off.
