Hurricane Supplies In Short Supply, High Demand
September 6, 2017
Hurricane supplies are in high demand, while supplies are in short supply around Escambia County.
Tuesday saw many store out of water and a quick sell-out at those that were able to restock during the day. Many store managers said more water is on the way in the next few days.
Stores also sold out of many hurricane supply foods, such as canned food and bread. And several gas stations were reported to be out of regular unleaded gas by Tuesday night.

Remember: “The first 72 are on you”. Everyone that lives in this area should at least have 3 days worth of food and water/fuel on hand. If you have a generator, get extra fuel AHEAD of a pending emergency and then you can use rechargeable batteries if you have them. Lots of things you can do now. The food you can eat if the storm doesn’t come this way and you can replace it as you go.
Being prepared early allows you to evacuate early if needed, or, if you decide to stay, to batten down the hatches and help your neighbors do the same.
We are all in this together.
Ivan survivor here. Lost just about everything and I was prepared! Had to evacuate.
@Phil
I have spoken to people until I was blue in the face about prepping for various situations and been called “paranoid, delusional, doomsayer” and several other monikers that can’t be printed here. I’m sick of trying to help others get ready only to be ridiculed, so I sit back and enjoy myself. And yea…I DO rather enjoy throwing some greasy slices of ridicule back out there just to see which of the ignorant slip on it. Sometimes, it’s the simple pleasures in life that are the most fun.
I have tap water for sale, bring your own container…
Doesn’t anyone ever camp and boil water? I’d be buying crackers to go with the peanut butter and jell, not bread, lol. It does leave many of us to wonder why people don’t seem to be prepared, at least those who survived Ivan.
Clara if Walmart dosent get more gas what will we do ?
@Sedition, preach it brother! I’m sitting in my office listening to everyone whine about not being able to get water and laughing. They think that water in a bottle from the store is the only way to have water on hand.
Fill up some empty soda bottles with tap water (that’s all that is in the bottled water anyway), fill up some empty milk jugs. Think outside the box folks.
That’s because you are so much smarter than the rest of us Sedition. Maybe you should use some of your enormous brain power to help others that need it, instead of insulting them.
Sad. Idiots one and all. How long have we been in hurricane season and only now do you run out to get supplies? If one would keep a few extra supplies on hand and buy a couple more needed items each week, and keep doing this year round, one could stay ahead of the game and not have to go through this rat race.
Does no one remember the ‘14 flood or freeze? Did THAT teach you nothing?
It’s times like these that should show that preppers aren’t crazy, but we ARE easily entertained by watching others run around like a kicked-up ant bed.
Walmart on Hwy 29 is almost out of gas and does not know when they are getting more.
