Geeze Bob C. really??? Like others have posted, funeral escorting is NOT a priority and there isn’t anything you can do about it. Many agencies have eliminated the practice altogether since there is inherent risk. So it takes everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive and the cemetery? Ask the guy/gal in the coffin if they mind. Come on Bob C., priorities are what is important. The funeral home can always hire the Troopers to do it since they surely aren’t on I110 writing speeding tickets.

Bob you got to have the actual bodies to escort the dead bodies. Do you want to take them off patrol and responding to 911 calls so the dead can have a fancy escort? Priories! The dead are dead they don’t need a fancy traffic escort! Move on Sheriff is doing what he can with the deputies he has. I want them on patrol!

I think I’m confused here. People are upset about funeral escorts amid officer shortages and pay shortfalls caused by the county commission? Wow. Talk about getting it completely backwards! You realize the county commission approves the sheriff’s budget correct? You people make me laugh.

Sheriff of Escambia County Florida is Stopping the Tradition of Funeral Escorts – even if he gets his money – is a disgrace to our community and a dishonorable thing to do for our loved ones and the veterans of our armed forces.
This was a thug bullying thing to do and shows that he has zero respect for the citizens who have passed away.
Cannot imagine the chaos and dangerous conditions this sheriff will be causing for those leaving a funeral home in the north end and going randomly to Barrancas National Cemetery where the timing for arrival, gathering, services and conclusion are so precise.
What are the options for those of us Citizens who are in opposition to this move by the sheriff of our county?
