Stolen Corvette Recovered, Driver Arrested In Cantonment
August 19, 2017
A stolen Chevy Corvette was recovered in Cantonment Friday night and the driver arrested on multiple charges.
Thomas Carey Boswell, age 52 of Nancy Lane in Molino, allegedly took the vehicle out on a test drive from a Sandy Sansing dealership in Pensacola. When he failed to return the vehicle, it was traced by the OnStar service to Cantonment. The vehicle was stopped on Tate School Road, and Boswell was taken into custody by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
There was reportedly a female passenger in the vehicle that Boswell refused to allow to exit during his ride north.
Boswell was charged with vehicle theft, kidnapping/false imprisonment, resisting an officer, fleeing or eluding police and distribution of methamphetamine. He was booked into the Escambia County Jail with bond set at $31,000.

for you tp patroit, with your smart answer. that was a joke.people joke on here all the time. everyone can joke cant they.
You can not fix stupid.
Dealerships will let you drive off with a vehicle on your own. I recently was in the market for a brand new vehicle. I drove home a $62,000 Lincoln for four days. The salesman did not come with me for those four days, either.
tg…how many cars have you bought in your life (that daddy didn’t buy for you?) much less buying a car worth 70 grand. Yeah, they’ll let you drive hunk of junk off the lot without supervision. Dealerships don’t work like that with your bank account. Not for his either.
Snowing a car salesman and dealership into “test driving ” this vehicle without (1) leaving his DL and (2) serious questions of how he might finance it sounds questionable and should’ve sent up red flags. WTH?
They do not need Onstar. Most dealerships have very inexpensive gps devices they put on their loaners, demos, and high interest in house financed vehicles. You will not find them, They are extremely inexpensive and when repossessing the cars the drivers ask…..how did they find my car. Of course somebody test driving a corvette starts with many deficiencies including low IQ.
The passenger was not the salesperson. The passenger was a friend of his. He picked the passenger up after he stole the car. It was when the police started to chase them that the passenger was aware of being in a stolen car. They then wanted out of the car. The kidnapping came into play when he would not stop and let the passenger out.
Was the female passenger the salesperson?
“if you gona steal a car make sure its a kia or smart car that dont have on star.”
Really? Bartender, I don’t think you need to be giving anyone advice.
Yes, this is totally a shame on him. Maybe sitting in jail will clean him up. It is a shame that his brother has to battle cancer and battle with his stupidity. He has put more than his immediate family through hell. He has put a lot of people through hell. I hope he sits in that cell for a long time. Then maybe his family won’t have to worry about what he is out doing.
More proof that drugs make a person STUPID.
Hope this guy enjoys pushing a cart around the prison laundry.
Thank the Good Lord the woman with him and anyone else wasn’t hurt.
what fool would do a stupid thing like that,l hope you enjoyed there ride because it is not yours dumb ass.
shame on you tommy. why do you have to shame your family like that.your brother has cancer and all you worried about is stealing a car. if you gona steal a car make sure its a kia or smart car that dont have on star. you have put your family through hell enough.now maybe you will sit in jail and dry out.
Sandy needs to keep the cars on near empty gas tanks.
Nana you have went to the wrong dealership.
My salesman allowed me to meet a friend for lunch and run a few errands during a four hour test drive. He did not go with me… so I am guessing it is not uncommon to trust potental buyers.
Glad the guy was caught, it is a shame that he took advantage of the dealership like that. Not sure what he was thinking.
Every time I have went to look at cars and wanted to test drive one, the salesman was always with me! Would have never dreamed of not returning it.
