Harvey To Hit Texas As Major Hurricane, Our Local Forecast

August 25, 2017

Hurricane Harvey is forecast to become a MAJOR Hurricane before making landfall along the southeast Texas coast. While Harvey is forecast to move toward to the Texas Gulf Coast (well away from the local area), there will be still be impacts locally. Increased long period swell from Harvey will bring an increasing risk of rip currents starting on Friday and lasting through at least the weekend for coastal Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. There is also the potential for heavy rain and severe weather next week, but this will be highly dependent on the eventual track of Harvey.

With all the predictions of this one, I would have left if I lived in the path. This is sounding almost like Ivan. Although there was argument about whether Ivan was actually a Cat 3 or 4 when it made landfall – it was too much to stay through again. Slow moving, large coverage and expectations that it will stall. Even as a low Cat 3, this is gonna be a bad one for that area. Hoping everyone will be safe in TX/LA

Actually, Nod, climate change IS real. NASA has a plethora of pictures and info regarding it. Hurricane forecasting is challenging as hurricanes are unpredictable. NOAA did warn of Harvey intensifying, but there are always many possibilities as to where a storm may go.

Prayers go out to all involved in this storm. How come when it comes to “climate change” (supposedly) they can predict weather out 100 years, but with Havey they could not tell us an accurate prediction for a week. It was supposed to be a small tropical event and now look!
