George Edward Jay

, 83 of Atmore, AL. passed away Wednesday August \2, 2017, at his residence. He was retired from Stone Container as a bag maker, born in Purdue Hill, AL, on August 19, 1933, to the late George Harper and Annie Laura Brown Jay. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Laura Rawls and Betty DeFee.

He is survived by wife  Jessie Greene Jay of Atmore, AL; two sons George Allen (Shelly) Jay, Frank Edward (Karen) Jay all of Atmore, AL; two daughters Julia Elizabeth Norwood of Atmore, AL, Laura Lee (Paul) McKinley of Callahan, FL;  three brothers Mitchell Jay of Grove Hill, AL, Frank Jay of Mexia, AL, and Howard Jay of Phoenix City, AL;  nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday August 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Alen Chace officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery at Purdue Hill, AL. Active pallbearers are William Norwood, John Norwood, Jeffery Norwood, Kirby Jay, David Jay and Jason Jay.

Family will receive friends, Friday August 4, 2017 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
