Emergency Bridge Closure Ordered For Crabtree Church Road Bridge

August 22, 2017

The Florida Department of Transportation has ordered an emergency bridge closure on Crabtree Church Road in Molino after structural deficiencies were found during a routine inspection.

The bridge over Alligator Creek, west of Sunshine Hill Road, is closed effectively immediately .

There is currently no recommended detour route from the county. A completion date for repairs is not known as the closure notice was just received by the county.

If it was an emergency to close the bridge why haven’t they started the repairs?

Went down to look at bridge being built on Molino rd. I was somewhat confused. I thought it was going to be a 4 lane high rise with on and off ramps for the interstate. But alas it was just a 2 lane bridge . So why the length of time to build it. Your slow tax dollars at work.

Actually now that I have thought about it, you can take Molino Rd to Sunshine Hill Rd then get on Crabtree going east to Tom Thumb and Highway 29. The closure is West of Sunshine Hill. Still a hassle.

    CONTEMPLATING:
“There is currently no recommended detour route from the county.”

A variation of, “You can’t get there from here”?

    David for better bridges

Just awesome. This was our detour for Molino road that has been closed for forever while the bridge there is being replaced! Now I will have to take a 10 mile detour to get to work in Century!

Looks like we got bridge problems in the north end of the county. Hope they don’t take as long to repair it as the Molino Rd. bridge !
