Lightning Strike Sparks House Fire

July 27, 2017

A lightning strike sparked a house fire Wednesday night in Cantonment.

Residents of the home on El Camino Drive reported that their home was struck by lighting and that they thought the fire was out. But the first firefighters on scene from the  Cantonment Station of Escambia Fire Rescue found that there was a small working fire in the attic.

The fire was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries reported.

I’m a neighbor who observed the firefighters’ quick arrival and very thorough response. I was impressed at their complete teamwork and sincere HARD work making sure this family was taken care of, and home safe. They left no stone unturned, and made sure they cleaned up the property before leaving. Great job, gentlemen, I felt safer and grateful to be in your district should my own family ever need your help. Thank you for all you do!

Thank goodness for firefighters. Paid and Volunteer! It takes a special kind of human-being to go into a burning structure.
