Found: Woman Mysteriously Disappears Near Century

July 14, 2017

UPDATE: A woman missing in the woods near Century was found Friday morning in “good” physical condition.

Tiffaney Brooke Daugherty suffered cuts and scrapes. She was found by searchers very near where she was last seen entering the wooded area, according to the Escambia County (AL) Sheriff’s Office. She was being transported to an Alabama hospital for evaluation.

There was no word on why she exited her vehicle and entered the heavily wooded area Thursday night;

PREVIOUS STORY:

Authorities in two states are searching for a woman they say left her vehicle and ran into a wooded area and disappeared Thursday night near Century.

Tiffaney Brooke Daugherty, age 33 of Flomaton, jumped out of her vehicle, leaving behind her two small children, near the intersection of Fannie Road and Carnley Road Thursday night. That’s just northeast of Century in Florida, less than a half mile south of the Alabama/Florida State line.

She had pulled up at a pipeline construction site. A construction worker watched as she entered the wooded area and alerted authorities about 30 minutes later when he realized she had not returned.

Authorities from Alabama and Florida searched the area, described as heavily wooded and swampy, for hours Thursday night. They were still on scene at 1  a.m. Friday, with plans to break for a few hours and return after sunrise. The search included a K-9 Unit from the Century Correctional Institution and a helicopter equipped with a night-vision system. All of the searches were unsuccessful in locating anything but her flip-flops, according to Mike Lambert, chief deputy of the Escambia County (AL) Sheriff’s Office.

Daughtery is described as a white female, 5-foot 5-inches tall, about 115 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing black shorts with a pink-flowered shirt and is believed to now be barefoot.

Lambert said there was no indication whey Daughtery would have acted in such a manner. He said she is popular hair stylist with no criminal history and no history of drug or substance abuse.

Anyone with any information on her whereabouts or any tip as why the incident might have occurred is asked to call their law enforcement agency, the Escambia County (AL) Sheriff’s Office at (251) 809-0741 or 911.

Not saying she is a bad person or a mother, but something just don’t sound right with this, especially if they had the dogs in the woods hunting her and then found her in the same area that she went in the woods … what does that said for sheriff department that was there all night , she needs to just make a public speck of what is going on and what happen to her so that people will know the truth about it … just saying but she and her family is in my prayers

Tiffaney is an amazing woman and mother. I think many mothers can agree how overwhelming it can be to take care of 2 young children and work. I pray she gets the mental health care she needs. I know this is very out of character for her but with our prayers she can overcome this.

If she went into a swampy area, she might have gotten eaten by a Alligator! It’s definitely odd that there’s no sign of where she went.

I don’t know you Tiffany and have never met you. But based on what I have heard and what I have read, you sound like such a wonderful, sweet person. It is tough when you feel like when you have reached your breaking point. It is extremely scary! Believe me I know. I am very happy that you and your children are safe. Chin up! Now comes the healing. Let go and trust those who want to help you. Ignore the people who only want to bring you down. They don’t deserve your attention. You have a lot people who love you and will do anything to help you. Sincerely, A Stranger.

.Tiffaney is a wonderful, wonderful person! She has always been a n exceptional mother. She would never intentionally hurt anyone most definitely not her girls. Whatever happened it was out of her control and her character. For the person, that says she should pay for all expenses of the search, let me tell you….that is the type of person she is, she always pays her way. But why should she? That’s what our law enforcement agencies are for. To help those in trouble Tiffaney is definitely not one to ever make trouble. Besides, the law enforcement agencies, the search consisted of her family, church family and friends. Those people would still be searching today if need be and would have at least quadrupled in number. So before anyone else judges Tiffaney please think of this. Judge not, lest ye are judged. And but for his grace, there go I.

Everyone assumes every mother on earth wants to be a mother! This is not true and although we love our kids, sometimes we need to get out of the car and take a break from our lives. God Bless this woman and may she find peace within herself!

  9. Jay on July 15th, 2017 5:07 am

I sure hope they make her pay for all the trouble and expeince she caused , This woman does not need any kids in her care period, If she was and is so messed up what makes you think she is able to care for them.. I say send her the bill for al the resources put out..

Tiffany I’m glad your ok and you’ll be alright most people on here don’t understand what’s going on in your head/life but I’ve know you since middle school and I know whatever it was it would not Everest normally caused your to leave your children like that. I worked in mental health for years and no one else needs to judge just look at facts it’s definitely not drugs.

  11. Valerie on July 14th, 2017 10:34 pm

Glad she is OK. It could’ve turned out so differently no matter why it happened in the first place. I totally get it Cheryl. I do. People aren’t allowed to need mental health in our society and the sad thing is that 100% of us need it at some point. Yet it is so easy for someone who has been able to hide their mental health challeges better to pass judgement on the next person. Let’s all just be supportive that Tiffaney is OK. This event will not even be in the minds of those kids over time, but had they lost their mother, it would’ve left lasting devastating paths for them. Let’s all hope recovery and healing from it all for everyone is the ultimate outcome.

  12. thanks on July 14th, 2017 5:11 pm

I am so glad Tiffaney was found safe! I hope she will be okay. In case it has not been said yet… thank you Mr./Ms. Construction worker who reported this unsual activity. If it had not been for you, who knows what would’ve happened to those children… or when/if Tiffaney would have been found alive.

  17. Concerned on July 14th, 2017 1:58 pm

Thankful she was found alive, whether it was last night, today or tomorrow, we should be thankful – She is alive. Please….don’t judge, assume or point fingers! God bless her, her family, those who looked for her, prayed for her and had genuine concern!

  18. Curious on July 14th, 2017 1:34 pm

Have they checked her phone? Maybe she was being coerced by someone?

  19. Annie Wilson on July 14th, 2017 1:33 pm

Please do not judge this young lady by this instance. I have known her for a long time and she is a great mother and Christian lady. I have no idea what happened but this is not like her Read Galatians : 1. 1-3

  20. Who cares what hmmm thinks on July 14th, 2017 12:04 pm

My fiancé is one of the workers onsite, who stepped in to help look for her.. so this Hmmmmm person needs to step back and watch who ur stating accusations on. Construction workers did what they could to help look for this woman. I’m glad she was found and family’s prayers answered !

  21. Angelena on July 14th, 2017 11:09 am

  22. EMD on July 14th, 2017 10:54 am

Will we ever know “the rest of the story.

  23. Gary on July 14th, 2017 9:01 am

If that woman did this on her own without force or coersion her precious children should be placed in a safer place. If she was attacked I hope the culprit is arrested and put away. Whatever happened is surely not ‘normal.’

  24. Concerned on July 14th, 2017 8:51 am

I’ve known her 31 years! This is completely out of character of her. She would never abandoned her children like that! I’d be questioning every single one of those pipeliners! Tiffany would never just take off running! Sounds like maybe she needed to pull over to attended to one of her children and got snatched up to me!

  25. B on July 14th, 2017 8:35 am

Sounds to me like she had a mental breakdown

  26. Teresa on July 14th, 2017 8:34 am

God bless this woman and those two litte children. Prayers for this family are needed at this time.

  27. Mrs. Cheryl on July 14th, 2017 8:30 am

PLEASE DON’T JUDGE HER YET…I have a wonderful marriage, 3 great children and 15 grandchildren, my life is good. I was on my way to work one morning and had a mental breakdown after spending 5 days in a mental facility they found out I was just stressed…REALLY STRESS!…I’m telling you the human mind is a powerful thing. Don’t judge her until it’s really known what happened. God Bless you Tiffany, your family and everyone who loves you. One day at a time sweetie, one day at a time.

  28. Thankful on July 14th, 2017 8:12 am

  30. fishy.... on July 14th, 2017 7:48 am

With all of the people searching, and the area covered from where she went in and with the highly trained dogs which was also tracking and did alert on her scent, along with a helicopter with night visions ( I know it was a thick wooded area) BUT its still fishy she wasn’t found until this morning. Glad she was found safely and the kids were okay as well.

  31. fred on July 14th, 2017 7:46 am

Wow, that’s great news. Hopefully, the doctors can figure out what happened and she’ll be okay from now on.

  32. Selina988 on July 14th, 2017 7:40 am

Prayers for her and her family. This breaks my heart for those children.

  33. 12345 on July 14th, 2017 7:31 am

A construction worker, as in singular form? Does that mean only one person saw her? No mother in their right mind would leave their kids like that, something is very wrong here!

  34. Willis on July 14th, 2017 7:28 am

Glad she was located and I hope she will be alright…….

But this kind of gives a whole new meaning to when Moms say “don’t make me pull this car over”.

  35. 429SCJ on July 14th, 2017 6:43 am

    Strange

    She certainly needs our prayers.
