Cantonment Man Charged With Felony Child Abuse

June 5, 2017

A Cantonment man has been arrested after allegedly grabbing a child by the neck and choking him with both hands.

Luis Scott Vargas, 38, was charged recently with felony child abuse for the incident that occurred at a home on McKenzie Road.

A witness told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that Vargas grabbed the victim by the neck “pinned him on the ground and choked him using both hands”. The witness told deputies she hesitated in reporting the incident because she was afraid of Vargas.

The case has also been referred to the Department of Children and Family Services for further investigation.

Vargas was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

CHARGED people…. Not an accusation. Brought up on charges. That means there is evidence of it…and a DA and some lawyers some where think there is enough to prosecute!! Anyone can be accused, trust me, lol. Have to have facts and evidence to charge. I’m just saying

I am NOT saying what he is accused of doing was ok, but I really would like to know WHY? What brought this on? And how old was the “child”?

    Reguarding: …for truth

Accused people dont go to jail….
    CHARGED people go to jail.
DAs and prosecutors don’t charge w/o sufficient evidence.

    JC for being correct

    REGARDING:
“Why is he able to bond out? ”

Same reason as always: He has been accused but not convicted.
Witnesses sometimes lie or get confused.

If you were accused but innocent, you would not want to spend time in jail awaiting trial.

As stressful as life may be, we must be able to control ourselves and keep our hand off of others. Especially children and women.

Why is the able to bond out? Isn’t this battery on a child? What, did he apologize so it’s ok to release him? If he does this to a child, and an adult is afraid of him, he will do it again with more tragic results. He belongs in prison for a lengthy time out.
