Escambia County 4-H Offers Summer Day Camp Programs
May 30, 2017
Escambia County 4-H is offering summer programs designed to give your child the opportunity to develop character, valuable life skills, make new friends and discover new interests. The day camps are open to youth ages 8 (as of Sept. 1, 2016) to 18, unless otherwise noted. Programs include:
Beginner Sewing Day Camp
June 13 and 15; 9 a.m.- 3.p.m.
Ages: 10+, Limit 15 Youth; $10
This beginners level camp will allow youth to become comfortable using a sewing machine. Youth can choose to make pillows or t-shirt tote bags.
Breakfast Day Camp
June 21-22; 9 a.m.- 3.p.m.
Ages: 10+, Limit 16 Youth; $10
This camp will allow youth the opportunity to learn about the process of how their breakfast food is made. Youth will learn about poultry agricultural production on day one. Day two will be all about the culinary arts, where youth will have the opportunity to cook omelets, pancakes, and much more!
Tailgate Day Camp
July 5-6; 9 a.m.- 3.p.m.
Ages: 11+, Limit 20 Youth; $10
This camp will allow youth the opportunity to learn about all aspects of meat, grilling, and food preparation. Youth will use a 14 inch charcoal grill to cook beef, pork, poultry, and seafood in an outdoor setting.
Intermediate Sewing Day Camp
July 18 and 20; 9 a.m.- 3.p.m.
Ages: 12+, Limit 15 Youth; $10
This intermediate level camp will allow youth to become proficient using a sewing machine. Youth will have the opportunity to make pillowcases, tote bags, and much more!
CSI Day Camp
July 17 9 a.m.- 3.p.m. or July 19; 9 a.m.- 3.p.m.
Ages: 11+, Limit 12 Youth per Day; $10
This camp will focus on crime scene investigation techniques, including using UV light, chromatography, fingerprint and handwriting ID, and much more. The same information will be presented both days.

Man Run Over By SUV In Private Property Accident
May 29, 2017
A man was seriously injured when he was run over by a SUV in a private property accident Sunday afternoon in McDavid.
The man, in his twenties, was reportedly struck by a SUV at home in the 100 block of West Bogia Road. The SUV came to rest on top of the man, before the driver removed it in order to free him. The exact circumstances of the incident are under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident scene was hundreds of yards down a long, narrow driveway at a home located well off the roadway, a driveway narrow enough that fire engines and an ambulance were unable to reach the home. The victim was transported to an ambulance waiting at the roadway by a fire department pickup truck.
The condition of the victim was not available.

- Escambia County Supervisor of Elections
- Escambia County Clerk of the Court & Comptroller
- Perdido Landfill, excluding the administrative offices, will be open
- Oak Grove Convenience Center will be closed
- Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT):
- Administrative offices closed
- ECAT will ONLY operate the following routes on Memorial Day:
- 59 Express
- 64 Beach Jumper
- Beach Trolley
- UWF Trolleys will not operate
ECUA
- ECUA Business Offices will be closed
- Residential and commercial sanitation collections will be unaffected and will follow normal schedule
Cities/Town Of Century, Pensacola, Jay

Molino Park Students Receive Flag Flown On U.S. Missions In Kuwait
May 29, 2017
In learning more about patriotism and military appreciation last school year, Mrs. Gilmore’s first grade class at Molino Park Elementary sent a care package and letters of support to one student’s parent who is deployed overseas with the Air Force.
The class received a thank you letter in return, and a full size American flag that was flown over their mission in Kuwait. The flag will be displayed in a shadow box at the school.
Each student in the class also received an individual flag.

Memorial Day Program: Honoring The Fallen At The Wall South
May 29, 2017
Hundreds of people gathered at Veterans Memorial Park in Pensacola Sunday afternoon to honor those that have given their lives for their country.
The event featured the reading of 140 names that were recently added to the Wall South, a half size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. Both walls now contain the names of 58,315 service members lost 5th tv during the Vietnam conflict. The names of the 140 were added due to the redefining of combat missions or areas, and because of new information and records.
Guest speaker was retired Navy Cmdr. Scott Moyer, a former Blue Angel pilot that was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for combat missions in support of Operations Desert Storm and Southern Watch.
