Deadly Golf Cart Wreck Driver Arrested, Victims Named

May 3, 2017

UPDATE 2:30 p.m. –  Authorities have arrested a hit and run driver in a deadly golf cart accident near the state line Tuesday afternoon.

Garrett Williamson, 25, is charged with reckless murder and leaving the scene of an accident with injury of death.

About 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, Flomaton Police said Williamson hit the golf cart on Old Fannie Road in Flomaton, about a half mile north of the Alabama/Florida  line.

Myrtle Ann Rolin was flown by LifeGuard helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where she later passed away. James Ray Foster was airlifted by LifeFlight to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he was listed in stable condition at last report. Rolin and Foster are both residents of Old Flomaton Road in Century.

The vehicle that fled the scene was described by witnesses as being a blue or silver-like color car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was last seen about two miles away, being driven extremely erratically as it turned from Highway 31 onto Oil Well Road, according to Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis.

Flomaton Police are being assisted in their investigation by the Alabama State Trooper Traffic Homicide Division.  The Flomaton Fire Department and Escambia County (FL) EMS also responded to the crash.

No but his family surely will, williamsons family is heartbroken about the whole situation, but what williamsons family does is Pray, pray for mrs.ann’s family, as well as williamson.so before you comment an ugly name or say something that isnt nice about a boys wrap sheet, think about who will we it..hes obviously behind bars.

Williamson is behind bars – again – YIPPEE. Keep him there ! The METH head has no business in society.

    @ me

If you don’t change your attitude and ways of thinking, you are going down the wrong path Seek the Lord and you won’t react to situations as this in the way you are doing.. It’s normal to stop when there is an accident. You don’t leave the scene of an accident under no circumstances. Scared or not.

PRAYERS to the family of Ann Rolin and the recovery of Mr. Foster.

    @me,

They were on a straight stretch of road. Kinda hard to not see even if he was speeding.

    And how DARE YOU

Pretty sure that’s some of his family members… you should feel ashamed of YOURSELF for defending someone who clearly needs to be put behind bars and stay there… yes people make mistakes but one after another isn’t mistakes anymore. This family lost a loved one bc this kid was driving like a bat outa hell and OBVIOUSLY NOT PAYING ATTENTION… heard several reports they seen him driving crazy before this even happened. And to say they shouldn’t be driving a golf cart on Fannie is just stupid. Really???? I’ve been down that road many , many of times… people are always on 4wheelers and what not. So no, don’t try to put blame on this family bc they was out enjoying their day. This kid is going where he belongs.

Some of you people should be ashamed of yourself for passing judgement ! NONE of you know what you would do in that situation . I’m sure he was scared to death after hitting that golf cart . Yes he should have stopped and yes by all means it was wrong for him to leave the accident . but at the end of the day NONE of us know what we would do …..STOP and pray for EVERYONE involved.
Families have lost a loved one / && a family is also dealing with losing someone to a horrible mistake . No one wins in this kind of situation !
I see someone posted about Williamson doing this or that ! We all are sinners and do wrong thing. Yes Williamson has made some bad decisions but he’s only 25 and he has a LOT of growing up to do clearly.
The family that was hit on the golf cart shouldn’t have been in the road… Old Fannie Road is dangerous and if you are speeding which 99.9% of the people do that drive down it do… he may not have seen them in front of him until it was to late.
I’m praying hard for everyone involved. please help do the same
    God Bless

Prayers for everyone who knew Mrs. Rolin and Mr. Foster.

Escambia Judicial System is warped. Hard to believe it takes a tragic accident to put the piece of crap Williamson in jail and possibly keep him there.

    Williamson, you need to rot.

This is terrible.I will keep this family in my prayers.I know that no one wants to be in this type of accident as a driver but if that does happen you do the right thing and stop and do everything you can to help. There is NO excuse to keep driving. These are people, human beings with families and feelings you do not just keep going like you hit a yard trimmings. This takes a heartless soulless person that has no business walking around free to ruin more lives. My heart goes out to the entire family and friends I will be praying for yall.

Hit and run drivers – no conscience, no morals, basically murderers. Life in prison removed from society.

I’m so very sorry for the families loss. My mom was pretty much best friends with Miss Anne and had literally just been dropped off by them before they left to go back home, which was only about 5-10 minutes away. My moms heart is broken and her, my sister and myself are keeping all the family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.

This was my Sister-in law, my Husbands only Sister. I pray for Peace and Comfort for her children, and my Husband and his other Siblings as well as other Family survivors of this horrific tragedy that with God’s Grace and Mercy it too in time shall pass but with much difficulty, the heartbreak from our loss, everytime I use to talk to her the last thing she would tell me before we got off the phone was “I love you!”. Thank you all for your condolences, your kind words and concerns and also for the words of encouragement. And LEOS have got this but more importantly, God has got this! We love you all, God says love one another, it is called the “A New Commandment” John 13:34 A new commandment , I give unto you, That you love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. <3 :)
