What could be in that place worth anything? Unless there is copper somewhere. But I would think that got yanked out back in the day.

I cannot imagine what would be left there to steal as that place was probably picked clean years ago?

Evidently the owner is vigilant enough to press charges and has the right connections that keep big brother from imposing the rules upon him.

I hate the guy had drugs on himself but at least he was cleaning up some of that mess. Need to let all who want’s the junk take it, maybe it will start looking a little better there. And the Town of Century really needs to fine the owners for not cleaning it up. They haven’t done anything to it. Big eye sore. Snakes, rats and mosquitoes are looking for a new home.

    REGARDING:
“Someone needs to hire it cleaned up and bill the owners.”

Good idea. Perhaps you should pay to have it cleaned up and then bill the owner of record.

    David for holding breath

    REGARDING:
” the structures …. pose a threat to human life”

Yep — after the criminal breaks in.

    David for safe criminals?????

While I do not condone stealing, at least some of this junk was removed. I agree with the others that this eyesore and danger needs to be cleaned up! Citizens are cited and fined for their own yards being grassy or littered and yet this monstrosity just sits there! Someone needs to hire it cleaned up and bill the owners.

While we are on the subject of the old mill, the property owner should also be charged. By local and county codes, the structures are deemed illegal and should be abated because they pose a threat to human life. As I read it, each day creates a separate offense which can impose a $500 fine and 60 day jail term. While the pen is in hand writing up charges for Mr. Pace, lets start beefing up accountability for getting that place cleaned up. I have visited with residents down Front Street and they are still faced with the mill’s fence leaning over on their property and are constantly cleaning up debris off of their property coming from the mill.

Gheez…. Perhaps the criminal is the owner who has not cleaned that site up.
