State Won’t Seek Death Penalty For Mary Rice

March 31, 2017

The State Attorney’s Office says they will not seek the death penalty against accused killer Mary Rice.

Prosecutors decided it was not appropriate to pursue the death penalty considering the current Florida law requiring a unanimous jury decision, said State Attorney Bill Eddins. He said there was not enough evidence to unanimously convince a jury that Rice was primarily responsible for three murders.

William Boyette was considered the primary actor in the multi-state killing spree earlier this, Eddins said. He took his own life at a Georgia motel as police closed in for an arrest.

Rice is charged with murder and accessory after the fact in connection to the death of three people in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Alicia Ann Greer and Jacqueline Jeanette Moore were found shot to death in the Emerald Sands Inn on January 31. Boyette and Rice are then believed to have killed Peggy Broz in Lillian on February 3. The couple then allegedly shot and Kayla Crocker in her home in Beulah on February 6. She died the following day.

Boyette and Rice then stole Crocker’s and car fled to Georgia where authorities caught up with them February 7 at a hotel. Boyette took his own life inside a motel room and police closed in for an arrest. Rice surrender peacefully.

I feel the prisons where inmates like her are housed, should be shown photos of those they murdered, or an accessory to murder. Remind them every day, every hour, every second. I know several prison guards. It’s not like we all think. Incarceration in prisons and jails is the easy life. They get outside time, they get playground time, they get TV time. Better life than some of our law abiding citizens. Make their life miserable is what I would like to see. The families of the victims will go through a miserable life. Tit for Tat !

When the inmates get done with her, she will wish she got the death penalty. I would rather she rot in jail, then get the death penalty, cause one way or another, on death row, it would be twenty or so years before they do it. So, either way, tax payers will pay for it.

It seems that is what the Florida justice system has come to, with needing a unanimous jury to convict for the death penalty. Seems prosecutors won’t even go for it anymore. What a travesty of justice. What an absolute shame it has come to.
Will she face extradition to Alabama?, Perhaps they still understand that people need to be executed for their crimes.

Good. I would rather she just sit in a cell with poster size photo’s of the women she helped him to kill. We need to go back to the bread and water days too. Life, with no fun.

Agree, crime is big business for private correctional facilities when those that probably don’t deserve to breathe air get their 3 hots and a cot. Maybe the state will seek LIFE WITH NO POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE for this dreg.

WOW! This is unbelievable! They should fry her butt and let everybody in Pensacola and surrounding communities watch it live on TV! This is a slap in the face to the victims families.

that’s too bad. She and her murderous accomplish gave those other people the death sentence. She chose to be there, she chose to aide and abet in the crimes, she should pay for it. Why should taxpayers have to pay for her food, clothing and housing now?

Yeah, let’s not have any more death penalties, our buddies that own the private prisons need to have the cells stuffed full for maximum profit. Everything needs to be profit driven, colleges, hospitals, etc., otherwise why would we get outta bed in the morning! :D
