the police needs to write more tickets to local resident and not just out of towners this would slow more people down here in century

Ben, they do enforce them in Century & as far as I know they do in Flomaton too, although they can’t be everywhere.

I second enforcement of the speed limits. Perhaps Mayor Hawkin’s idea of a Century Police Dept that let’s our revenue come from the steady stream of traffic on 29 could actually work! Meanwhile ECSO, thanks!!!! I love it when I look at the dispatch and see you all make a stop every few minutes for hours at a time!!
Hope this pedestrian will be alright, must be quite a scare and horrible thing.
People please stop littering through here, We go out and have to pick it up after you and it is dangerous, keep it til you get home or stop at a store and throw it away.
Take 4A around the town if you can

a good start is to enforce speed limit laws. through century and Flomaton.

    @ Kevin Stead. http://www.fdot.gov/designsupport/ada/Sidewalksandtrails.shtm

When I heard of the man riding his electric wheel chair, all the way from Shady Lane, down State Line Road, where there are no sidewalks in places–across Highway 29 to Odom’s bar drive through–back across –around the turn and home. I actually admired his spunk
Century is deficient in and not up to par with pedestrian pathways..He made it but the town could realize their potential and do better. I would like to walk more but 12 inches next to a speeding semi truck must be sub standard.

There are many pedestrians and bicycles sharing the road in Century. I think the sidewalks are too close to highway 29. In other parts of Escambia and Pensacola, the street and road department and political leaders educate themselves on FDOT programs and plan projects for safe roads, sidewalks and bike lanes and put them into five year plans and such. Often a plan is implanted for over head pedestrian walkways if the volume warrants it.
It is a cluster at the foot of the overpass coming into the town especially..pedestrians, bicycles, dogs, people going in and out of the grocery store.
I hate to hear of yet another pedestrian has been hit in that town.
I think people drive too fast and do not pay attention like they should.

1 time I was driving near the Whataburger in Century and a young man walked in front of my car as if he was trying to get hit. Prayers for the family.

    If you decide
    You can not go around–
    And find yourself driving
    Through Century Town

    In order to prevent
    Oh so much Trouble
Keep all Eyes on the Road
Yes ! You!! On the Double!

    If you often find Yourself,
    Short on the Dough
    Notice the Speed Limit!!
    Man it is set LOW!

    Yes there are Black Cows
    and Folks walking around

    Slow down –slow down
When you drive through this town.

So sorry to hear this. I travel by that way often and encounter many crossing there by foot and bicycle. I don’t know if it is feasible, but maybe we can discuss a pedestrian crosswalk there. I have seen many cross to go to the park and to go to the store in that general area. I would like to see it come up for discussion to help ensure the safety of citizens.

This is the reason that we pay taxes is so that we have sidewalks that pedestrians can travel back and forth, not in the middle of the road at night and if you have to cross the street make SURE that there is no cars coming. Prayers for for him and family. Please be careful when walking and driving!!
