Cantonment Woman Trapped Under Overturned Vehicle At Kingsfield Bridge

February 27, 2017

A Cantonment woman was critically injured in a single vehicle crash into a ravine Sunday night.

Bonnie Judson, 30, was westbound on Kingsfield Road just after 7:00 p.m. when she ran off the roadway in her 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer and hit a guardrail, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle continued to travel westbound and hit the guardrail again, causing the vehicle to become airborne.

Judson was ejected and came to rest under the vehicle off the Eleven Mile Creek Bridge. Firefighters, including an Escambia County Fire Rescue Special Operations Team, worked for over half an hour to free the Judson from under the wreckage after securing the vehicle to keep it from further overturning.

Judson was airlifted by LifeFlight helicopter to an area  hospital as a “trauma alert”.

The accident remains under FHP investigation.

To Serenity Thank you for the update on your mother. You wrote a wonderful summary for all of us and it was very thoughtful of you to update us on her condition. I’m sorry she was in this accident but glad her injuries were not more severe. I know you can not wait for her to get back home and I am glad she is recovering . Take care and help mom lots when she gets home and thank you again :)

To Serenity – I’m glad your mom is ok and I hope she heals quickly. Thankful for all of the family that the surgery was successful and that she will recover. Very fortunate.

Just take a look at all the emergency personnel rescuing her. This is why we all need to get out of the way when we see their lights flashing.

I pray your mom is better soon, Serenity!

I lived on West Kingsfield many years ago, and drove that portion of the road hundreds of times. With all of the distractions today, it’s more important than ever to stay focused. I’m not saying she was doing anything wrong; perhaps a passing vehicle caused her to veer (we don’t know and I’m not condemning).

More lighting………..more warnings? That bridge and turn have been there since before most people that have wrecked on it have been driving. Slow it down, pay attention and know the road you’re traveling on. Pretty simple concept. I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure that bridge didn’t jump out in the street and surprise anyone. Hoping she recovers well but quit blaming the roads for every wreck in the county.

There have been at least 2 fatalities at that bridge, it’s a very dark road approaching that bridge. Perhaps they need more lighting and more warning in that area.

Hope she gets weii soon. How did the accident happen and why was she ejected?

Bonnie (Nichole) Olson Judson is her legal name. She’s named after her Grandma and has always went by Nichole/ Nikki.

    >>>Bonnie Judson is not the person that was in the wreck. It was Nichole Olsen

The legal name of the person in the wreck was Bonnie Judson, per FHP. We are told perhaps she goes by the other name you mentioned, but never changed her legal name after a divorce.

I live near this bridge too and it has had its tragic moments. I pray and hope this woman is okay and able to rehab herself back to good health and well being! But in my opinion I hope the County Road &Bridges will get together and create a work order to redify this situation asap before more accidents happen ( mainly falalities )! This is where our taxes is put to great use for the our road safety!!!!
