Triple Murderer’s Name, Social Media Causing Problems For Family, 60-Year Old Business

February 7, 2017

A local family says the massive manhunt for an accused triple murder suspect is harming the reputation of their business and their family thanks to erroneous social media posts.

The Boyett family has been a well-respected family in Escambia County for years, operating Boyett’s Septic Tank and Portable Toilets since 1957. The family name has always been spelled without an “e” on the end, unlike the last name of William “Billy” Boyette, which ends with an “e”.

“You would think people could see the difference right  away with the spelling,” Logan Boyett said Monday afternoon. “There is no ‘e’ on the end of our name. We have no connection or ties to this horrible monster of person murdering people.”

But the spelling difference has not stopped posts across social media accusing the Boyett family of supporting and even aiding the murder suspect Boyette. Many posts have called for businesses to drop their contacts with the Boyett’s 60-year old company.

“It’s unbelievable what they have accused us of doing,” Debbie Boyett of Molino said. “We are not connected to this man in any way.”

I’ve known the Boyettes they are very important people in our community. I support you Mrs.Bebbie & Lynn.
Sorry that people have brought your name into this, they have no ideal who you really are
    God bless

Thought the same way about the family ….if they had been proven to help him….HOWEVER….. they DID NOT. His own brother was willing to “take him out” so you must aknowledge that!!! This dude was apparently a piece of trash from a little boy and unfortunately didn’t run into the Darwin experience. I do not nor will I blame this family for that piece of trash. If things had been different in multiple ways, he probably would never have gotten to that stage. Keep the bitterness where it belongs which at this point is in the ground.

Never even would have thought of association with company. People should think before posting. That’s what is wrong with this country today. Fake news is everywhere! When people start getting held liable for what they say, post, tweet, Facebook, etc., maybe they will think twice before do so.

Sorry Lynn & Debbie. Hope y’all get some more publicity about this issue.
Not many companies are still local, family run, that have been around a long time, have “the best” service, pay well, and have had and continue to have long serving employees. That alone speaks for itself. And the Boyett’s are down to earth low key folks. Salt of the earth.
To the childish idiots using slander: you cant get folks like these down. Their workers and will eat your obviously best shot up.

I wonder if these stupid people called up every Boyette in the telephone book and said horrible things to innocent folks???? What else are they stupid about!!!!

I only manage 1 property with a septic tank and I will add their name to a very short list of people I trust to get the job done right when it needs servicing. When I first moved to this area no store in Pace would take my checks because of an individual with my last name. so I know how it feels.I will spread their name where ever I can, this is very sad.

I have known the Boyett Family since they used to be on Michigan Ave under Corr and Boyetts ..Michigan Ave back then was a narrow 2 lane road and nothing but woods. Crecent Lake was not even there yet. No Carriage Hills etc..
I know all of them and Steve and family. They are not…let me repeat…they are not related to this murderer in any way.
The early 60s is when I met these guys and they are good hard working family people.
Do not hurt them with rumors and trying to create doubt.

The Boyett Family has been in business for years and it seems longer than 60. At one time a Boyett drove a race car at Five Flags Speedway. Glad to hear there is no connection with the monster and this family. AND if it was, it wouldn’t change my mind if I needed their services. There’s always one bad apple in every bunch. For the citizens in this area, stay safe, lock yourselves in and don’t answer any doors. Call 911 not Crimestoppers if you see these two in your eyesight.

I told my husband last night that I felt sorry for this killer’s family and the woman who is with him has school aged kids so I feel very sorry for her kids. Because while the killer and his accomplice are the criminals, the family may be innocents who just happen to share a few genetic/blood ties with a killer. I know I don’t like nor agree with the actions of some members of my blood family.

Judge not least you, yourself, be judged and found wanting! People need to let the police do their job and hunt the killers. If the police suspect a family member of harboring the fugitives then the police will keep a close eye on that family member.

There is plenty of innocents who may be related who will be treated horridly for no reason other than being born into the same family. We should feel sorry for those innocents during this really rough time of being ashamed of that blood tie.

@ Boyett’s– Sorry your company got pulled into this. I’ve had dealings with the Boyett company over the years and their service is 100%. Take care as this will pass. ps: have you found a TV in one of the “johns” lately?

  13. Dee on February 7th, 2017 8:37 am

I also noticed the spelling difference right away, but what if they WERE related? Second cousin, nephew, whatever… Unless they are harboring the fugitive or impeding the search by purposely withholding information, relatives are not responsible for the idiot in the family! Most, if not all, of this idiots actual family are probably just as much in the dark as the rest of us and would love to turn him in if they knew anything. People need to grow up.

  14. Kanard on February 7th, 2017 8:36 am

Unfortunately the last name Boyett and Boyette are like several other words in the English language and can be misconstrued like there and their. And yes names are different and mean so much more than just words. It is a shame that a family and THEIR business are having to catch the back lash of this tragedy here in the Pensacola area. I have known this family before Logan was even born. Lynn is a good to do business with and I have always found him to be fair. He also does a lot for the community in the way of giving back. The integrity Lynn and the company has will bring them back to the fore front of the business that was started so long ago. Please from this point forward less make sure we use the Boyett name and keep it associated with the fine business that it is.

  15. Debin on February 7th, 2017 8:26 am

This is absolutely horrible!! These idiot people in Pensacola who have nothing better to do then to post untruthful posts to their social media all day are ruining businesses!! This needs to be aired on TV! So sorry your company is having to deal with stupidity!

  16. Bewildered on February 7th, 2017 8:15 am

This should be announced on all TV stations in our area. I don’t tweet, twitter or whatever – So I am pretty sure I heard this family connection rumor listening to one of the newscasts.

  17. Judith on February 7th, 2017 7:53 am

I understand. Our name has an e on the end but people tend to drop it, as well as mispronounce it. Hopefully this will soon be over and things will get back to normal for everyone.

  18. Karen on February 7th, 2017 7:43 am

So they cleared that up that was good cause a lot of people wondered doesn’t mean everyone is wrong for wanting to know.

  19. Donna Wood on February 7th, 2017 7:39 am

So sorry to the Boyett family is having to suffer the consequences of idiots on social media. Don’t they know this is the type of thing that interferes with our safety and that randomly putting false information out can ruin lives. Be safe yall, we’ll get through this. Pensacola supports you.

  20. Dee on February 7th, 2017 7:39 am

KARMA I’m a big believer in karma. Those who have dropped Boyett’s shame shame shame on you. Those you know the Boyett Company will support, respect, and honor you, your families, and employees.

  21. just sayin on February 7th, 2017 7:33 am

Kudos to you North Escambia for setting the record straight. It is a shame how people jump and cling to false assumptions. Shame on the people who have made uneducated false claims about this family’s name in our community.

  22. Mike J. on February 7th, 2017 7:18 am

I noticed the spelling difference right away and I hoped other would also, but since this is a problem, then I’ll tell everybody that I can. This company treated the septic tank at my house before our construction addition in 2008 and I would call them again if it needs work.

  23. np630ss on February 7th, 2017 6:56 am

I went to school with Lyn Boyett. His family are good hard working folks.

  24. Rob on February 7th, 2017 6:51 am

The Boyett family, business, and staff are great people. Don’t ruin them for the deeds of a murderer. Instead support them. Double their contracts. Let us as a community reject ignorance and speculation followed by over reaction.

  25. Concerned Citizen on February 7th, 2017 6:35 am

People that deliberately slander, bare false witness and by their ignorant minds and mouths do just what this thug murderer is doing … Harming innocent lives and murdering their welfare, business. The Boyett’s have every right to sue anyone that does such stupid acts. Those People should be ashamed. It will come back to haunt them for sure. Grow up folks get a life. Think about these women he’s murdered or harmed having no idea who may be on the other side of their door. It could be one of us next Heaven forbid.

This is outrageous and sad. It’s tough enough to be s small family business without a bunch of ignorant, malicious fools spreading lies and “false news”.
