February 4, 2017

A toddler was airlifted to a Pensacola hospital after being bitten by a dog in Century.

The two-year old girl was reportedly bitten in the abdomen by a Labrador mix about 3:40 p.m. Monday. The bite occurred on in the 4600 block of Highway 4A, just north off North Century Boulevard.

The child was transported by Santa Rosa Lifeguard EMS to the McDavid Fire Station and then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Pensacola. An update on the child’s condition was not available.

The circumstances around the incident were not immediately known. Escambia County Sherrif’s deputies were on the scene looking for the dog, and Escambia County Animal Control was called.

    >>The town pays ECSO

Just FYI…the town does *not* pay ECSO….or code enforcement or animal control

Please don’t be hard on the parents of this little girl. My daughter was bitten in the face by a German Shepard when I was standing two feet away while at a family picnic. It was very hot that day and the dog had hip-dysplasia we didn’t know about and my daughter pet her on the bad hip. Dogs do not have great manners when they re in pain.

    @chris.. FYI
Not everyone fusses about code enforcement– some want they all across the board.

The town pays ECSO and yes Code should come in and do animal control. Call them and they act like it is a foreign country.

Why has a bulldog been brought into this. Article clearly stated lab mix. Labs are supposed to be the best family dog. Please leave the bread out of it. It’s a breed not every dog in the breed is going to be the same. It’s the same with color not every white, black, or brown person will be the same. I’m sorry to go on and on, but I hate hearing racist remarks.

@tina: “our police.” Would that be the Century police? Or maybe the ESCO? Century residents fussed about code enforcement, but now the police should drive around and look for dogs?

Hope the young person is OK, I am just asking , why do people always think its a bulldog. In the 80s everybody hollered oh no its a doberman, now oh no its a bulldog.I have bulldogs and many friends have them, no problems any dog can bite and theres usually more to the story I have seen cases where a kid or grown person tormented a dog, guess what.

I was only eight feet away when a dog that my fifteen month old was hugging suddenly turned and snapped my child in the face…animals can be unpredictable. The dog that bit my child was a family pet that often rode the famalies twin toddlers on its back.
Hopefully this was sn unforseen incident.
So sorry it hsppened but sometimes even when you are right thete accidents happen

    @ Tina Freeman,— I Agree.

We have seen packs of dogs roaming around at night plus numerous stray cats at Food Giant Grocery Store/Laundromat around the the building behind there and around the open dumpsters. Beware

Dont know the situation with this awful incident however I do know that Century has a serious problem with stray animals, dogs and cats.People want to own these bull dogs but dont own the responsibilities that come with it!I am a lover of animals however I wished that our police could focus more on citations to those who dont abide by the requirements of the law.Too many people getting bitten by various breeds of dogs with no shots,no tags, running loose.

So sad for a child to have been bitten or injured! Yet, where were the parents/caregiver for this child?
Parents, please watch, observe, look after your children, PLEASE!
