Century Correctional Institution Inmate Assaults Officer
February 27, 2017
An inmate recently assaulted a correctional officer at Century Correctional Institution, according to information released by the Florida Department of Corrections.
Inmate Jaylin Y. Rue became combative and bit the officer on the knee. Staff responded appropriately, and the Rue was subdued, according to DOC.
Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Rue will receive a disciplinary report for this assault, according to corrections staff.
Rue was serving an eight year sentence out of St. Lucie County for robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

“Officials responded appropriately and Rue was subdued,” means he may never need to put Tabasco sauce on anything ever again because he got enough pepper spray to last a lifetime.
@David, they are a little too progressive for an old school fellow such as myself.
I believe in using time tested, performance proven methods and technology.
REGARDING:
“I would have made an excellent CO”
Last I heard, they’re hiring.
David for proving the pudding
Take everyone and lock them in a cell and leave them there until their sentence is up.
That way there would be no trouble. You know like they did on devils island for solitary confinement. No trouble them. Or is that a little harsh.?
Now he must interact with that CO, on a daily basis.
I would have made an excellent CO. I believe that being a good CO, means helping inmates find a better path, make more sensible choices in life.
Man when I was a cenci if an Inmate assaulted a Co he would get an outside charge man I don’t miss this new DOC it’s a joke no discipline like it was
Pat,
K2 is a synthetic Marijuana
Mike,
You have no idea what you are talking about, put yourself in the position and give it a try. I’ll bet you couldn’t handle it. Don’t matter if your gaurd is down or up, if an inmate wants to get you he will get you no matter what. It is true you should be prepared for anything but your statement was very ignorant.
REGARDING:
“What exactly is K2?”
Synthetic cannabinoids are a class of chemicals that are different from the cannabinoids found in cannabis but which also bind to cannabinoid receptors.
There are several psychoactive artificial cannabinoid families that are sprayed onto plant matter that is then sold under brand names like K2 and Spice both of which are now often used as generic terms used for any synthetic cannabis product.

David for being helpful
In house discipline, what a joke. The same laws apply inside a prison as on the outside. Bit someone on the street and you will be charged with assault not have you tv taken away. These inmates face no consequences for their actions and they know it. No one signs up to be abused, physically or mentally. Talk ugly to one of the precious murders and you will be disciplined and sued. Thats the New Department of Corrections.
What exactly is K2 , guess I’m old school ,never heard of it
@ mike
I agree with your assessment of what the punishment should be, but the officer is in no way responsible for meig assaukted or his injuries. A fight is not a planned incident and officers occasionally get hurt. Prison or street, officers get hit punched pushed shot and stabbed. Its the attackers fault.
In-house charge of assault, with time added, is what is called for. Strictly speaking, the officer let his guard down, & is culpable for the incident himself, not to be too harsh in judging him.
If you are gonna work around prison inmates you gotta be prepared for anything.

“K-2, maybe? It makes some people who smoke it crazy,”
Could be, for all we know, but was acting uncivilized ere being sent to prison.
Strange to bite a knee, though, better bite points elsewhere.
David for better people
(& better bites?)
Whoa…. a disciplinary report? Well, that’ll teach him.
K-2, maybe? It makes some people who smoke it crazy, and it’s a big problem in correctional facilities right now.
