Airgas Fined $12K For Deadly Explosion In Cantonment
February 9, 2017
A Cantonment manufacturing plant has been fined $12,000 for a deadly explosion last year.
Jesse Folmar, 32, was killed when nitrous oxide tanks exploded at the Airgas plant on August 28, 2016.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cited the company saying it failed to provide a safe workplace. Folmar was killed while filling a transport trailer with nitrous oxide.
The OSHA report lists several safety measures that should be in place when working with the gas.
The explosion destroyed the facility in Cantonment, but the company must now make sure those safety measures are in place at their Mississippi plant.

The fine was for the safety violation, not the tragic death. Although related they are seperate issues. Ie: the fine for a speeding ticket is not related to the damage caused by the speed.
$12,000 ? Unbelievable!
>>and now they have caused another major explosion at IP.
Airgas has nothing to do with IP
>>>How did Airgas cause the explosion at IP?
You need to read the story again. It says nothing to that efffect.
How did Airgas cause the explosion at IP?
TERRIBLE
UNBELIEVABLE, I have a company here in Pensacola. We were fined $12,0000 last year for not having a guard on a 3hp motor. Airgas was only fined $12,000 for taking a human being’s life and now they have caused another major explosion at IP. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.
Slap on the wrist. Maybe they should have put them in the corner so they could think about what they did. Smh
I made a typo it should have said $12,000 still a disgrace that is all that is it
I am sorry for putting $10K it was 12K still a disgrace
THAT’ ALL!!! that is like $10 to the average person – a man was Killed – and it is poisonous …….let’s make them pay as they should..
