Thief Strips Wheels From Mustang, Leaves It On Blocks In Front Of Dealership
January 16, 2017
An Atmore car dealership is asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for stealing tire and rims off a Mustang and leaving the vehicle up on blocks in front of the business.
The car was a Mustang Shelby GT350, parked right next to Highway 21, just a few yards north of the Florida state line. The tires and rims were stolen sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 2:45 a.m. Sunday. The car was left up on landscaping blocks that were covered in dirt as if they were used and had been removed from a yard or business.
While an expensive loss, the dealership said these are not the $15,000 plus carbon fiber wheels found on the GT350R.
Johnson Ford is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Atmore Police Department at (251) 368-9141.

Willie, I am with you. 4 rims in the bed of a pickup much easier to hide than a 2017 Mustang of any style on the back of a rollback.
Dust the inside fender wells and the outside lip of the fender wells for finger prints. Some of the bricks could have finger prints on them to.
I still say do not blame the victim. A dirtbag ripped off someone, but its not their own fault?
“the dealership said these are not the $15,000 plus carbon fiber wheels found on the GT350R.”
I wonder where they park that one?
Got tires and wheels cheap, two ounces of crack Will do.a set of cheap wheel locks,we wouldn’t be wasting our time with this.tssk tisk. Dont require much brains,I bet it was insured if it was up to me locks would of been required before it got insured. “Just saying “.
All that risk and only half the reward; to dumb to realize the high dollar wheels only come on the 350R. Nice try fellas.
Rare? come on, you can go order one today for $56k.
And to display it inside?
What about all the fancy pickups in stock, setting outside for $80k ?
Well…it is a Ford. It would have wound up on blocks anyway.
I blame no one. Its just a crying shame, the low down, dirty things that we do. They will be caught.
Just my luck I was gonna go test drive that today lol I gues I can go test sit in it
No wheel locks? You asking for it unless it’s a inside job.. sort of like parking a motorcycle out in MB.
I rode down past JF yesterday afternoon and there were a set of wheels and tires back on the car. Don’t know if they are the originals. Hope the thugs get caught and if someone collects the reward they just give it back to Johnson Ford.
Why don’t the crime investigators get finger prints off the car ? They had to have touched it. Or finger prints on the blocks. Easy.
What a tragedy! This is a classic example of what is wrong with this country. You can’t leave the TV on without having your toothbrush lose a handful of bristles.
I’m with REF on this one. Why would any dealer put car like that on the hwy? Look at all of the wrecks where the car runs off the road. What a gamble that dealer took.
429scj, I’d think that the whole car would have been too hard to hide and someone would have talked at some point. Somebody with a GT must have wanted a set of Shelby wheels…………or a few ounces of crack.
Its a shame how those theivies could ruin a beautiful car like that.
Pretty brave to steal wheels and tires from right beside the highway.. It’s sad but reminds me of the song Johnny Cash ..They got it one piece At a time ..
I believe those same exact jack stands (stones) can be purchased at a Marvins near you!
Why on earth would they leave a car like this outside in the first place? A car this rare and sought after should be under lock and key at all times. Neglenence on their behalf led to this crime happening.
Not if you don’t have a rollback.
It would have been much simpler to have dragged the Mustang onto a rollback, making off with the whole car, as opposed to stealing just the wheels.
