Sex Offender Shot By U.S. Marshals Task Force Member

January 20, 2017

A U.S. Marshals Task Force member shot a child sex offender suspect before he was taken into custody Thursday in Escambia County.

The US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF) arrested Kevin Petuchov for sexual assault on a victim under 12. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office was looking for Petuchov after investigators determined that he had sexually assaulted a 4-year old female over a period of time from April through October 2016. Escambia County Sheriff’s Office investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest in December 2016 and requested assistance from the task force to located him.

About 9 a.m. Thursday, members of the FRFTF located the 61-year old Petuchov at a home on the 700 block of Boxwood Drive and attempted to arrest him.

During the arrest, Petuchov brandished a firearm and was subsequently shot by an FRFTF task force officer. FRFTF members immediately rendered first aid to Petuchov and who was subsequently transported to Sacred Heart Hospital by Escambia County EMS.

Petuchov was treated for the gunshot wound and is currently in the Escambia County Jail awaiting first appearance on the sexual battery charge. Petuchov may face additional charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement officers with a firearm.

Members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were called to process the crime scene and are assisting the FRFTF with the ongoing shooting investigation.

The Pensacola Division of the FRFTF is comprised of state and local law enforcement officers from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Florida State Attorney’s Office, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Pensacola Police Department. These officers are sworn in as Special Deputy US Marshals and working alongside US Marshals are tasked by their respective agencies to pursue the most violent wanted offenders in the Panhandle.

It’s horrifying that this happened on my street. I live nearby and can attest to there being quite a few kids in the neighborhood, who play up and down the street often and fit within the target age of this sick freak. I’ve never seen him in the neighborhood, but that doesn’t make it any less terrifying that he was a few houses away. Instead of letting him live for years off tax payers’ hard-earned dollars, they should’ve served justice on the spot. A swift death wouldn’t have been justice, though. Justice will happen when the inmates find out what he’s done. Child rapists never last long, thankfully.

    @me and me2

Totally agree with “me”. So next time the child molester is DRT.

@me2 unfortunately if we handicapped the criminal they’d get disability because they couldn’t work so we’d still be paying for the scum. I’m for better firearms training.

    Great job to the Leo’s.

Yes Cheryl, he should not still be here to stand trial for his charges for trying to use a firearm on law enforcement and for what he did to the poor child. We need to inherent punishments like used in other countries. There’s a reason why countries have better than a low crime rate. They have a no crime rate. Eye for an eye. You steal, off with your arm.

“Me”. That’s what I’m talking about!!!
With the court system like it is today
He will be out of jail in no time doing
the same thing so I say hit the gun
range and next time let there be no
EXCUSES and take the child molesting
    Scum out.

Judge much folks? How about we let the due process of the law run its course before we become judge, juror and executioner. I pray none of you are ever falsely accused of a crime you didn’t commit. I don’t know if this man did or not do what he is accused of but he is due his day in court.

Fortunately for me the truth set me free, after a lie locked me up. Prayers for all involved…

    What happened to double tap?

  9. molinoman on January 20th, 2017 12:49 pm

Too bad they couldn’t do a double tap ala Zombieland style and finish this monster off.

There is absolutely no excuse for what that man did. He should be castrated and then executed.

Let’s all pray for the little girl. I cannot pray for the accused, God will handle him in time.

Should’ve aimed for that mole on his forehead – that would’ve saved us taxpayers a lot of money. He’ll get what’s coming to him in prison hopefully. As we all know, there is no cure for these sick perverts (other than a bullet).

Not a very good shot. Looks like that task force member needs some more training.
