Molino Toddler Airlifted After Attack By Two Dogs

January 20, 2017

A Molino toddler was  injured when attacked by two dogs Thursday.

The child reportedly entered an open gate into a neighbor’s property on Rumford Road and was attacked by two English bulldogs, according to Joy Tsubooka, Escambia County spokesperson. It was not immediately clear, she said, if the child opened the gate or it had been left open by someone else.

The toddler was airlifted to a Pensacola hospital as a trauma alert.

The two dogs were surrendered by the owner and are now in the custody of Escambia County Animal Control. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Further details haven’t been released.

Let’s please not resort to name calling because we don’t agree with what someone has said. I love children and wish to keep them all as safe as possible. I also love animals, dogs especially., But, let’s let the police do their jobs and investigate the incident. And then take the proper measures. I do applaud the dog owners for surrendering their dogs when I know that would be so very hard to do. But in that same incident, as much as I love my 3 dogs, I would do the same. The children must be taken care of. They depend on us as much as our dogs do. When we have them, animals and kids, we are responsible for them and their actions. Many, many prayers to all involved, especially the toddler.

It’s just that, from the article, it makes it seem like a toddler just may have opened the gate, and anyone would wonder right away if the parents were there or not to maybe have stopped that happening. No blaming. Just wondering abt details. Whatever happened, so very sorry! Prayers for the toddler and all involved.<3

Jessica…….if he is watched all the time, did they just “WATCH” him walk to another home, open the gate, and get attacked? Then there is still a problem.

  4. Jessica on January 21st, 2017 9:40 pm

I really wish everyone would stop trying to blame the parents. He is watched all the time. He is very muched love anf by no means neglected. If you so not know all of the details then you may keep your opinion to yourself. I love that little boy and so does his entire family. I have 4 kids and i can tell you it takes a second for a toddler to get out of your sight. It is impossible to watch a child every second of the day. This is not child neglect or endangerment, simply and accident.

Well said Jennifer Rabren!!! Praying for both child and owner of dogs..

Bam Bam, I think you might need to stop judging others & take your own advice. You stated that it is child neglect & child endangerment accuse others of not watching their kids then turn around & admit that your pits not pit but pits sleep with your 4 kids each night, how do they do that unwatched by you or do you stay awake & watch yours 24/7? Hello? That’s what I thought, I really hope & pray nothing happens to your kids. I have kids & regardless of how close I watch mine, they still get into stuff, whether they catch me starting a load of laundry or putting them into dryer or hanging my laundry out.

Dog attacks on children happen a lot more than people realize. My daughter works in a hospital.

Pits cann be very loving, but I know first hand they will turn on oeners in a heartbeat. You can feed them love them train them but watchout. I had a grandson in his own yard, pit jumped fence and killed him. Had calabash grandma that rasied and loved and fead her son’s pit. One day bam, attacked and ripped her face half off. Pits might not bite more than small dogs but I would take a hundred Chihuahua bites to one pit bite. Please keep your dogs secure. Prayers for toddler and all concerned.

I agree with David Huie Green 100%. The legal issues are in all probability up in the air. Only a couple of days ago a man was arrested in Navarre because his two children (4 and 6 years old) played unsupervised or loosely watched in a Navarre park. (Due to close proximity of the water and a major highway)

Sadly this would never had to have happened if 2 things had occurred. If you have dogs outside make sure your fence/gates are child proof and if you have kids look after them closer. Dogs are animals and unpredictable and kids are curious and most love dogs.. Tradgic but an avoidable accident.

Why blame the dogs, they were in their OWN yard. Plus it don’t matter what kind of dogs they are. Plus it actually don’t matter if the gate was open, they were in their Own yard. Not trying to be mean,I raised 2 kids and they didn’t wander the streets at a toddler age, did they get into stuff, absolutely. But in their home or in their yard,Praying for the child, parents, dogs and dogs owners in that order.

Called child neglect, and child endangerment! Cut and dry. I have three pit bulls, 4 children. Dogs sleep in bed with them every night. Not that its bulldogs!Owner of dog’s fault, is at the minimum, for not socializing the bulldogs. Parents not watching they babies, huge fault! Teaching ur kids dogs bite, helps too.

  13. jennifer rabren on January 21st, 2017 6:28 am

ANY dog can attack regardless of breed. Morons.

  14. David Huie Green on January 21st, 2017 1:28 am

Anyone wishing to blame the parents of the child for not watching him every second of the day should be advised: this is not possible, nor is it healthy.

Those wishing to blame the dogs are free to do so, but this is also unreasonable. No dog is smart enough to recognize all harmless invaders versus harmful invaders. For that matter, no human is 100% reliable at identifying each kind.

I hope the kid is okay. This is regrettable and painful for all involved.

    David for peace

This is heartbreaking! I hope the child makes a fast recovery. I cannot believe that English bulldogs attacked a child. Usually, English bulldogs are docile, gentle breeds and this type of behavior from them is unheard of. Perhaps the dogs were not English bulldogs but American bulldogs? I pray this child makes a speedy recovery! Bless the entire family.

  16. Tiffany on January 20th, 2017 10:23 pm

Ill pray for the child. But if the child was properly watched, then how did this happen? Why should the dogs be put down for protecting their propery? Thats not right.

  17. Avis on January 20th, 2017 8:15 pm

Most of you need to recognize the difference between a PERSON and a DOG. All this defense and concern shown for “the dogs” is out of line. I don’t care if the dog kills a chicken. He has to be put down and I mean right now. A dog is a dog and a human being is a human being. The two are not equally protected under any kind of value system I ever heard of.

  18. So sad on January 20th, 2017 8:12 pm

This so sad, but also the reason I will never have bulldogs. Pit or American, there is just something in them that can’t be bred out, once they start they can’t stop. Even the sweetest Bulldogs in the world sometimes have that switch that once they start attacking/defending they just can’t stop until the adversary is neutralized.

Prayers for the families involved, both sides are hurting and the dogs are just wondering where their family is and why they can’t just go home. So sad for all involved. Prayers sent…

Where was the toddler’s parent or guardian? Praying for the young child and a full recovery!

What an awful accident. Prayers for the boy, and his family. Prayers for the dog owner and his dogs as well.

  22. Dangamom on January 20th, 2017 1:44 pm

I certainly want the child to be ok, but if the dogs were on their own property then why did the owner surrender them? Why was this child left to wander off and get into this situation? Where was his supervision? Do not put the blame on dogs that were minding their own business until something crossed into their territory.

  23. Puddin on January 20th, 2017 11:07 am

How terrible! Prayers for the baby.

  24. Elaine on January 20th, 2017 10:16 am

This is a tragedy but I hope nothing is done to the dogs. They were on their own property and protecting it. Positive thoughts for the little boy.

  25. Janice on January 20th, 2017 10:10 am

Who was not watching the toddler??

  26. anne 1of2 on January 20th, 2017 9:51 am

The family’s worst nightmare, prayers for all of them, especially the baby. Dogs are so territorial. Like owning a gun, the owner is responsible for watching them all day long.
