Man Gets 20 Years For Shooting Over Comments About His Saggy Pants

January 14, 2017

An Escambia County man has been sentenced to state prison after another man commented about his saggy pants.

Waymon Jamontez Brazile was sentenced by Circuit Judge Jennie Kinsey to 20 years for aggravated assault with a firearm after he was convicted by an Escambia County jury.

On September 4, 2015, the victim told Brazile to pull up his pants at a convenience store. After a brief argument, the victim left the store on foot. Brazile then followed the victim from the store with a firearm. After a struggle, Brazile shot the victim in the leg and fled the scene, according to prosecutors.

    I’m glad I was born a long time ago so the stupid things we did with clothes we still had a lot of options. My question is ‘what comes next after saggy pants go out of style??’

    A few years ago Ocala passed an ordinance penalizing those who wore sagging pants on city property…didn’t last long, once the NAACP decided that it unfairly targeted young black men/teenagers, and it was subsequently repealed…..ill sure be glad when the inevitable tide of fashion culture washes this scourge of American decency out to sea… reminds me a lot of the 70’s when we thought it was hip/cool to go “bra-less”….ha! we sure were stupid then too!

    @ Esc Co LEO

    Agree, these people seem to do the complete opposite of how normal law abiding, God fearing, rightly raised, responsible people think and act.
    They are messing with our minds and thought patterns by their crazy actions.

    It’s a disgrace seening guys with there pants sagging down. It should be against the law if I had a son I would make him pull them up no matter who he is with. It is sickening.

    @G …. Florida has a “10-20-Life” law in which “forcible felony” crimes qualify for this sentencing. These crimes are identified as follows:

    Florida Statute 776.08 Forcible felony.—“Forcible felony” means treason; murder; manslaughter; sexual battery; carjacking; home-invasion robbery; robbery; burglary; arson; kidnapping; aggravated assault; aggravated battery; aggravated stalking; aircraft piracy; unlawful throwing, placing, or discharging of a destructive device or bomb; and any other felony which involves the use or threat of physical force or violence against any individual.

    Under the “10-20-Life” penalties a person who commits a forcible felony is subject to a minimum mandatory prison sentence as outlined in FSS 775.087 as follows:
    10-years for using a gun in the commission of the crime;
    20-years if the gun is fired during the crime;
    and “Life” if a person is injured/killed.
    The law does not prevent a judge from increasing the jail time.

    Considering this subject was sentenced for “aggravated assault” – ie: use of a weapon (gun) – and he fired the weapon, he qualifies for the 20-year sentence.

    Willie Brazile was the one released by Obama. There is an online petition to free him and a Waymon B. signed it. I think that lack of law and order just begats the same. I believe it sends a message.
    Not a good one. This tragedy of the justice has gone on too long and I am glad the pendulum has swung the other way.

    His criminal record was probably the reason for the 20 prison term. I’m willing to bet he is not a law abiding citizen

    A shooting over a stupid comment and now prison time because of it. For those guys with the saggy pants, later in life, when they have hip problems from walking awkward so many years trying to keep those pants up, they will wish they had bought a belt.

    He wants to appear ready for the obvious. He just can’t find another person as dumb. 20 yrs does seem to be an extreme amount of time. I’d give him 5 yrs, all served in baggy pants. Served would be the key word.

  13. Kathy on January 14th, 2017 1:52 pm

    He is a ticking time bomb. If you would shoot someone over a comment like that then you should stay in jail forever

    REGARDING:
    ” i saw a kid last week walking down the side walk with his baggy jeans down below his backside. he was forced to hold them up in the front with one hand while talking on a cell with the other. for the life of me i can’t see how they like or would want to do this.”

    I was told it was a blatant invitation to other like-minded souls.

    Regardless, I had one kid on my bus for four years who never had both hands free at the same time. He was a good kid and never shot anybody about it. There are far worse things to worry about.

    David for ventilation

    @sam

    That’s why they do it… because you can’t understand it. If it was normal, it wouldn’t be “expressing themselves.”

    Shooting someone over droopy drawers tells me that this Brazile dude has no concern for other human life.
    We are often right next to someone who would not think at all about harming us just because they think it is their right to do so.
    The new mind set is frightening…be prepared at all times.

    in a related sighting of this disrespectful behavior, i saw a kid last week walking down the side walk with his baggy jeans down below his backside. he was forced to hold them up in the front with one hand while talking on a cell with the other. for the life of me i can’t see how they like or would want to do this.

  18. calvin qualls on January 14th, 2017 8:49 am

    Wrong is wrong but twenty year is a long time for shooting him in the leg people with that kind of time might as well had shot him in the head just saying!!!

  19. bewildered on January 14th, 2017 7:18 am

    I don’t know exactly what wearing saggy pants tries to prove to society – total disrespect for everybody else by showing them their behind? It can’t be comfortable walking around and holding your pants up with one hand to avoid tripping. But I know you had better keep your mouth shut about it – even to look at these thugs in a way showing disapproval will set them off. Another example of political correctness gone mad.

  20. mick on January 14th, 2017 4:12 am

    In prison there will be those who love the saggy pant look!

  21. Citizen on January 14th, 2017 2:37 am

    Wonder if he will walk around with his pants pulled down in prison. I have to laugh to picture him trying to run from the cops with his pants around his ankles.
