Century Man Found Not Guilty Of Attempted Murder In Bar Shooting

January 13, 2017

A Century resident that was charged with attempted murder will walk out of jail as a free man today.

An Escambia County jury on Thursday found Kendrick Jamar Washington not guilty on a charge of attempted murder for a 2015 shooting at Odom’s Bar in Century. An additional charge of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon will be dropped Friday, according to the State Attorney’s Office, and Washington will be released from the Escambia County Jail. He’s been jailed since his arrest on October 20, 2015.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Escambia County EMS were called to Odom’s Bar on North Century Boulevard at the Alabama state line about 11:50 p.m. on October 11, 2015.

Investigators quickly developed Washington as a suspect after witnesses said he shot David Darnell McCall following an argument over Washington’s girlfriend. McCall was transported first  by private vehicle to D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton and later to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his head.

How can a potential juror know anything about what was presented during the trial?

    REGARDING:
“Mr McCall should purchase a firearm and become proficient with it.”

Better yet, learn to do the things which avoid getting you shot.

I spoke to David a few months back and he was busy regaining brain function.

The Other David, for better decisions, better outcomes

Possibly witnesses said something that brought on this verdict.
A fight for Mr. McCalls gun ?

An innocent man was let go after being held in jail for over a year. He should sue the county and the witness

I don’t understand why the fire arm charge was drop. A convicted felon with a gun? Maybe we don’t need a permit to carry after all. Maybe– just maybe the S.A. will let it be known why.

No explanation as to why he was let go. Turned state’s evidence on something? Makes one wonder. Witnesses, a guy with a gunshot wound. Hmm… :)

Wow, this guy REALLY must have been not guilty. This circuit is notorious for not wanting to lose a case and will throw incalculable time and money down the drain for a conviction even when guilt is uncertain to prosecutors. Kendrick, you may want to move out of state. This was an embarrassment to the clique so you’ll be hammered for anything you might get in trouble for again. Be assured it’ll be personal.

I thought they had eye witnesses in a very public place. He has a very long violent criminal record. If he got off on a technicality about the Williams Rule that the state wanted to add as evidence. If this jury failed to convict him, I believe he is guilty and a danger from his past violent crimes. I do not understand how a defense attourny can rightfully do what they do and turn him out. What will he do next? What is wrong with this picture.
