December 13, 2016
A Walnut Hill woman as been arrested for attacking her elderly mother with a hammer.
Shivoyer Monee English, 35, was charged with felony aggravated battery using a deadly weapon and felony battery on a person 65 years of age or older following the incident on Juniper Street on Sunday.
English’s mother told Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies that the two had been arguing about a vehicle over the weekend. She said the argument escalated, with English walking into her bedroom with a hammer. The mother said she was in the bed when English hit her with the hammer, but she took action to avoid most of the force from the blow. After the mother grabbed the hammer, English punched her in the face multiple times and kicked her in the stomach, according to an arrest report.
The mother then left the home and walked to a neighbor’s house to call for help.
An arrest report detail injuries to the mother and states that she refused EMS transport to the hospital, saying that she would go to the hospital on her own.
English remained in the Escambia County Jail Tuesday with bond set at $50,000.
