Bluff Springs Road Closed For Wooden Bridge Replacement; Dawson Road Also Closed
November 2, 2016
A portion of Bluff Springs Road and Dawson Road are closed for bridge work — including the replacement of one of Escambia County’s last all-wooden bridges.
Bluff Springs Road is closed due to a wooden bridge replacement required by the Florida Department of Transportation. Roadway closures are expected to remain in effect for 130 days, with the project expected to be completed around March 2017. The scope of work includes clearing, grading, drainage, paving, signage and bridge construction approximately 300 feet east and west of the intersection of Pritchett Mill Creek and Bluff Springs Road. There are no permanent residences located beyond the road closure, but Escambia River and camp access via Bluff Springs Road will be cut off.
The Dawson Road bridge at Pritchett Mill Creek will be closed for about two weeks. Traffic will be detoured along Bluff Springs Road to North Century Boulevard. Construction will perform critical rehabilitation to the bridge.
