First Responders Rescue Driver, And Ferret, Following Crash
November 28, 2016
Firefighters rescued a driver — and a ferret — following a single vehicle crash Sunday night.
The driver was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not considered life threatening following the 11:30 p.m. crash on Mobile Highway near Klondike Road . A ferret in the vehicle escaped after the crash and was later located by firefighters. Escambia County Animal Control will hold the ferret (pictured bottom) until the driver is released from the hospital.
Further details on the crash have not been released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Way to go! I have been in an accident while traveling with 5 ferrets. One died, on escaped and 3 were trapped. The locals helped me. Or means so much to know your posts are cared for in this situation. Thank you, first responders!
I love that they took the time to look for the ferret. I’m a huge animal lover and I currently own 16 ferrets. These fur babies will escape because they are so curious about everything. God bless each and everyone one that was involved in a ferret hunt. Exspecially at night.
Bless you guys for saving that poor baby- I am sure the parent being ok is happy you rescued him. <3
Glad the driver will be ok. Thank you for rescuing the ferret–not easy to find a ferret in the dark!
Thank you to the firefighter(s) This carpetshark would have surely perished if not found and a ferret owner deeply saddened, Finding him must have been a real chore and more appreciated that you may ever know. Way to go!!
A great big thanks to all of these brave men who took the time to look for the owners pet. I know they are grateful to these me also. Thanks again for going the extra mile guys!
Bravo to the volunteer firefighters for taking the time and effort to look for the driver’s pet ferret! Could not have been an easy task at night. The ferret, who might also have been injured, would have likely faced certain death if left behind.
We hope the driver recovers quickly and is soon reunited with their pal. Thank you North Escambia County Animal Control for keeping this little one safe in the interim, and thanks NorthEscambia.com for reporting the story.
its incredible they found the little ferret. first responders are great. i was in a wreck and badly hurt, and they still noticed the open pet carrier in the car and asked me if there was a pet they should be looking for. i was awed. (there was no pet in the car at the time, thankfully).
As the article stated, “on Mobile Highway near Klondike Road”.
Where did it happen?
