Manhunt Underway For Escaped State Inmate From Atmore Prison

October 10, 2016

A manhunt is underway for a state prisoner that escaped from an Atmore facility Monday evening.

Jerry Lynn Hilburn, 40, escaped from the J. O. Davis Correctional Center, an annex facility of Fountain Correctional Facility, about 5:30 p.m.

Hilburn is described as a white male that is 6-foot, 2-inches tall, 214 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing his state-issued white prison uniform.

He was three years into a 20 year sentence out of Mobile for possession of controlled substance. He was a minimum in-custody inmate, not work release.

Anyone with information on Hilburn’s whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency or 911.

The escapes, the riots, etc have a direct relation to the non existent leadership of the governor.

For everyone saying “20 yrs for possession?” You might wanna do a little research on this joker. He has a long criminal history going back to 1995 for multiple burglary, multiple receiving stolen property, possession charges etc. He hasn’t learned a thing and has probably spent more time in jail than out. He is exactly who needs to be locked up.

20 years for controlled substance?????!!!!! But yet I know of someone who got two years for murder? And have heard of sex offenders doing less time?? That’s insane free up some space and lock up the real criminals!!

I say leave him be 3yrs is enough! He should turn himself in and be reprehended for escaping but that’s all in my book. Tax payers have paid enough also for wrongful sentence lengths.

20 years for possession. Rapist and murders and pedophiles get that. Our courts have got their prorities messed up. The sentence should fit the crime.

The deplorable conditions at the prison, must have been just too much for Mr Hilburn.

Controlled Substance, 20 years? What was he possessing, a kg of plutonium?

I would have advised Mr Hilburn to apply for one of those Obama pardons.

Yeah fountain is a level 4 facility. J.o Davis is a min custody facility. The are not connected. They just share alot. But besides that, he was shooting for work release, now he might be going to Holman instead of mobile work release or loxely. Stupidity is all I can say.

Hope they catch him. Sad thing is Holman is having the big issues and staff not showing up, yet fountain is the one letting them escape. Smh minimum risk or not, get control of your prisons wardens.
